But catching screams has been difficult, even before their haunted house got demolished! Happy Hauntings is a quaint and heartwarming supernatural comedy about two little spirits with their own goals in mind, but who knows just what the future might hold. Tamara, a middle-aged immigrant woman, works as a metro cleaner. Her daily routine is interspersed by memories of her past life filled with dancing. One day, she breaks social norms by dancing in a subway car, shedding her invisibility and reclaiming her identity. Helpless in the face of a repressive state, a young couple leaves their home - an escape that turns into a surreal nightmare.

When a sudden crisis threatens his plan, Batyr must race against time to finish it before it’s too late. Life throws curveballs, how you react decides if you make it through. Ball Face follows an elementary school girl terrified of sports who survives a chaotic ball game. By the end of the game, she’s completely transformed. A story about being in many realities at once. Sometimes one at a time, sometimes all at once. One morning while Pablo and Ricardo prepare for their day trip to the oil well, they cross paths with Petroka, who will soon earn their heart. When the loyal dog disappears to recover Ricardo’s glove, they embark on a journey that reveals the deep connection between man and his best friend. Rocketship Mai follows a fearless six-year-old girl who is on a daring mission to tackle Time (literally) so she can spend more moments with her ailing father. With her anxious copilot Bunny by her side, Mai speeds through the galaxy to box clocks, battle oversized foes (like… a million times larger), and take on anything the cosmos throws in her way. As the fight escalates, however, Mai discovers that time can’t be stopped — and what remains is something far more freeing:

Imp and Ghost from the short animated film Happy Hauntings created by @animationispain and @jupjup95.art Won best First Short animated film at the Galway Film Fleadh. @galwayfilm I did up this little model of the two main characters from this animated show I had the joy of working on as part of the @nationaltalentacademies first credit scheme. I did background colouring on this production with Ruth and Sabine giving me advice and feedback. Thank you to all the team for making an incredible piece! The 38th Galway Film Fleadh came to a close yesterday evening with its annual awards ceremony, with Frank Berry's The Lost Children of Tuam taking home the prestigious Best Irish Film Award. Screen Ireland was delighted to see a number of projects supported by the agency among the winners this year: 🏆 Best Irish Film Award – The Lost Children of Tuam 🏆 Audience Award – Learning to Breathe Under Water 🏆 Best Irish First Feature – You’ll Never Believe Who’s Dead 🏆 Best Irish Documentary – Try! (tied with The S.U.) 🏆 Best Cinematography in an Irish Documentary – Lukas Gut, The Siege of Paradise 🏆 Best Cinematography in a Short Film – A Knock At Your Door 🏆 Best First Short Animation – Happy Hauntings Huge congratulations to all award winners – and to the Fleadh team on a record-breaking edition. #IrishFilm

An amazing day of Animation at the #galwayfilmfleadh! The 12pm screening delighted us with a selection of short films from the @nationaltalentacademies, @nfs_iadt and @artscouncilireland. The filmmakers then had the opportunity to network and meet the teams around a few plates of goodies @mcswigg. But the best way to finish the day was certainly with 2 awards for the amazing shorts #voideden by @andmapsandplans and #happyhauntings! Animation Ireland Chair Moe Honan presented the James Horgan Award for Best Animated Short, to Alan Holly for Voideden at the 38th Galway Film Fleadh and Happy Hauntings won Best First Short which was one of the NTAA films. Well done all!

The National Talent Academy for Animation is thrilled to announce the seven teams chosen for the 2025 First Credit Short Film Scheme and Short Film Fund! After an intensive selection process, pre-production on all projects commenced in mid June and over the course of the next seven months, the chosen teams will produce their short films. The NTAA will offer the participants hands-on industry-led training and mentoring sessions, aimed at nurturing and upskilling a new wave of emerging and established writers, directors and producers. The First Credit Short Film Scheme projects are Abhaile, Bótharín, Happy Hauntings, Lullaby & To a Flame. The Short Film Fund projects are SAIRC & Koji's Courage.
