Three theatre projects all in one month...

...The first was @danwarddog show, The Yoga Project! A fantastic first official show out of college. I got to work with so many amazing people and make so many memories. I joined the team to help my friend's vision come alive, and I walked away with a whole group of friends! And that's yoga...

...Second was DIAL TO KILL THE KID! It was such a blessing to see this show actually be fully staged. I have more to say about it in a future date, but for now, all I have to say is a fucking love my cast and crew of this show...

...Finally, TRIGGERFISH, a stage reading at the Long Beach Shakespeare Company! A show that I wrote out of the need to write a complete comedy. Grateful to everyone involved and who knows, maybe I'll continue this someday. Maybe maybe, let's get in the car and see where it takes us...

hadn’t performed in a theater since high school. recently had this moment of deep gratitude for junior-year HS helena, who auditioned for Schoolhouse Rock one month into moving to a new high school in a small town in Michigan (from Tokyo). she gave me the data point: hey, you like this and you can do it. which in some ways led me to auditioning for Dan’s play.

I bow to actors. holding a character and believing / transmitting the storyline is not easy. embodying a cocreated world. storytelling in full presence and taking responsibility for a role. connecting with the audience. knowing your place in the story.

The Yoga Project - so much learning through this. in the midst of a ton of travel and work, grateful I had the opportunity and chose to commit to this super exciting challenge. a lot of trial and error. playing with character moods, tempo, tones, going from freaking out about a dance to having fun with it. learning counts. do I enter stage right or left?! learn the lines, then play with it. what’s the character feeling, how does this scene connect to the rest of the story? do you believe your act? presence. find it within.

keep it moving. momentum.

the leadership and collaboration. the dedication. the beauty of fucking up during dress rehearsal so u register your weak points. zipping it up. “ @hercules_at_work what’s next?!”

thank you so much @danwarddog for including me in this vision and guiding and mentoring my noob ass through it. you’re a beast. he wrote the script, directed and acted a main role.

@tulsijshah , thank you for your art and patience!! you created such epic choreographies and blended movement so beautifully throughout the play. learned a lot from you.

what a cast!! buncha talented humans. felt lucky to see you in ur realm of art.

A piece I made as a gift to my time building a home in LA - to the land, to the people, to the technicolor vibrancy of Angelinos, to my community, to the South Asian queer diaspora - Made up of all the flowers I had gathered and dried from Sunday farmers markets and Solstice wreath gatherings. I was not there long and felt I had been there forever. It still sings to me as I move across new lands proving to me that borders are a figment of oppressive imaginations.

I gifted it to @tejalyoga before leaving - gathered it up in a tarp and drove it across town for a midnight drop off just before leaving the next morning to start a 4 day drive north to my new home with my love @markvon

I was not raised or encouraged to be an artist growing up. It was an impulse that I could not temper, I’m still learning how to have faith in it, believe it is a central part of my being even as it spills out of my pores.

I don’t care what you think I’m supposed to be - I know how to listen to the current that runs through the earth of my soul and I love guiding others to listen too.

We have systems in us that transcend the systems we are told to live by.

8 years married and 14 years together overall!. Feels like yday that we met in Indian classical vocal class in NYC in 2011, walking together to the subway each week after class , slowly and awkwardly getting to know each other.

We’ve grown together and independently so much, and I love seeing A build his artistry as an actor while passionately educating patients as a healthcare provider. We’ve lived in 3 cities and 7 homes, and ive loved every single phase (ish).

If you’ve been on a zoom class with me you have prob met Ani at some point when he crawls on the floor to bring me tea and tries to stay out of frame 🤣. He is my biggest support system, a fellow Pisces (yes our home is basically water signs galore) and champions every next action I decide to take in my work.

I intentionally refrain from posting frequently about my personal life and like to keep this page more about my work and study as a yoga therapist, community builder and Ayurveda. Honestly I just like to have some parts of my life protected from the online world, and not have every aspect of my day to day be for consumption. But sometimes, it’s fun to share about these really sacred parts with you💜💜!

So I turned the camera on myself, not because I had the answers, but because I was desperate to find them before turning 25.

Quarter Life Crisis is my attempt to make sense of life’s endless uncertainty, shaped by social anxiety, financial pressure, broken systems, and the constant search for meaning, while still finding space to laugh.
