Plants, poetry, paperbacks, and pure community magic. 🌱✨
Grateful for everyone who showed up, shared their words, and exchanged a little piece of themselves. This is what growing together looks like.

This International Women’s Day, I was honored to sit and discuss @thereleafcollective and what it is all about with @anitamgarrett, the Director. The ReLeaf Collective is an outdoor space committed to holistic healing and reconnection of the land with our humanity.

The connection women have always had to land is not something new but something many of us are returning to. Historically the Chipko women of India, Grandmother of Environmental Justice Hazel Johnson, Hawaiian Educator and Activist Haunani-Kay Trask and modern day Lil Miss Flint and Greta Thunberg are all examples for the fierce connection women have to the land. The ReLeaf Collective is a space led by Black and brown people with a desire to be in community.

If you’re curious to learn more about this outdoor space near the heart of South Carolina, visit the link in the bio @thereleafcollective.

💫🔭 Here’s more of what you missed at The Auroras astronomy club’s February stargazing event, made possible by @southernblackgirls @thereleafcollective @journeytoshe!

The full moon was aglow in its stunning Waxing Gibbous “pre-shadow” phase last weekend during stargazing, shining at about 88% of its full illumination. Here’s a peek at @asalethebee helping The Auroras get an up close and personal view, with telescopes borrowed from the Library of Things at @richlandlibrary!

Have you looked up to see the full moon since its peak on March 3rd? Isn’t she a beauty?! 🌕🔭

The song just describes it ALL. 🤩 More to come from The Auroras astronomy club’s very first stargazing event, made possible by @southernblackgirls @thereleafcollective @wegivesc @journeytoshe and all the beaming faces you see here!

When you invest in a Black girl’s dream, this is what happens. The cosmos open up! 💫

Thanks to @richlandlibrary and their Library of Things, we’re fully equipped with telescopes 🔭 and several astronomy books for stargazers attending our sold out event THIS Saturday—just in time for a rare six-planet planetary parade.

T-minus 2 days until @asalethebee’s vision to spread #BlackGirlJoy under the stars becomes reality!

Joy is not a luxury—joy is strategy. 💫 I’m @asalethebee, the visionary behind @theaurorasclub, and I’m so grateful to be a #BlackGirlJoyChallenge winner!

My stargazing project is all about finding joy in nature and creating our own constellations among friends. With help from @wegivesc and @thereleafcollective, we are going to shine bright. Thank you @southernblackgirls for investing in my vision to spread joy across The Midlands of South Carolina. Let’s go! 🙌🏾✨

Born from the vision of 14-year-old @asalethebee, The Auroras Club is the SC Midlands’ first astronomy club for Black girls (13-17) and women—a space to explore the cosmos and reclaim the ancestral sky knowledge that has always been ours.

The Auroras is also the first on-site initiative of @thereleafcollective, a consortium and retreat founded by social entrepreneur and strategic adviser @anitamgarrett.

Join us for our first virtual interest meeting for The Auroras:
💫 Sunday, February 1
💫 4:00-4:45 PM
💫 Zoom

Come hear about what we’re building and how to join a community where Black girls and women see themselves in the universe.

Dialogue is about understanding. 🧠
Debate is about winning. 🏆

When you build your dialogue skills, you learn how to listen without reacting, speak without attacking, and handle uncomfortable conversations with confidence and respect.

That’s how growth happens in the workplace. That’s how trust is built.

Strong communication isn’t loud. It’s intentional. It’s calm. It’s effective.

Start practicing dialogue, not just debate.

Your career will thank you.
