A couple weeks ago I was asked out of the blue to add a piece to the back of the old PawnShop venue. I’ve been to HUNDREDS of metal shows at this venue back in the day, so when @B3KVY threw up the “bat signal”, and gave me the opportunity to come down to fill some of the wall space for @EdmontonMuralFest, I felt like I had to do something that SCREAMED me! It was a pleasure working along side such amazing talent — established AND up ‘n’ coming — and hopefully in the future I’ll be gifted the chance to properly plan to do something at a larger scale for them
•
If you own a commercial building — or know someone who does — and you/them might be willing to sit down and discuss some possibilities to make the space a landmark here in my home city, I’d be over the moon to come up with something we could both be proud to show off to those who pass by. Not only does a mural make a drab building a work of art for all to enjoy, it can also lead to more awareness about your spaces businesses. It shows you’re well-connected to the local community, increases interest from out-of-towners to the area, creates a more beautiful neighbourhood, gives civic pride, and MOST IMPORTANTLY… mural work is known to decrease risk of vandalism. Oh… and did I mention the city offers grants to artists to help cover expenses for projects like these to get off the ground? Work like THIS is what I’m after more and more these days… ESPECIALLY when the weather is nice.
•
On that note… does having me do something like THIS for YOUR building interest YOU? Or… do you know someone it might interest? Let me know below👇

One of Edmonton’s coolest FREE activities? Mural hunting! 🎨✨

The latest @edmontonmuralfest creations have brought even more colour to @oldstrathcona, and they’re absolutely worth checking out. With several stunning murals all in one area, it’s the perfect spot to wander, snap some photos, and admire the incredible talent behind each piece.

And yes... we’re officially obsessed with the giant mosquito mural. 🦟😍 It’s equal parts amazing and way too relatable for this summer.

Save this for your next Edmonton adventure!

The Punk Rock Flea Market YYC presents “Waiting Room” ⚡🔥⚡
Where: Thorncliffe/Greenview Community Centre and Rec Room
When: May 30, 11am to 6pm

VENDOR SPOTLIGHTS!

🤩 Anj Illo -"I am a born and raised queer, non-binary, Albertan illustrator, all about crafting work that’s a little weird, a little wild, and totally unforgettable. My style blends rich traditions of block printing and tattoos blended with the dynamic, expressive aesthetics of 90s anime—think striking shapes, playful composition, and a whole lot of personality. It’s a beautiful mess, and I wouldn’t have it any other way."

🔥 Arachne's Web - "Brier is the artist behind Arachne's Web and she brings the natural world to your living room through print making. You will find a variety of cyanotype prints and linocut art of plants, animals, insect and of course fungi."

👉 Art of Luba - "I like to paint and draw weird eyeball monsters, bunnies, and other strange creatures. You can find a variety of stickers, prints, originals and pins at my table!"

🤘 The Armoured Artist - "Teigan Tulsie, aka The Armoured Artist, is a biracial transgender knight on a quest to fill the world with rainbows with his handmade 2SLGBTQIA+ pride chainmail jewelry and accessories! Bracelets, earrings, necklaces, keychains, bookmarks, mini swords and more — he’s got items available in 20+ pride flags (with things for Allies as well!) Look for the rainbow table cloth and come say hi to you local queer chainsmith!"
