back in my cocoon trying to recover from overstimulation, back pain and foot infection spreading. make no mistake about my capacities. I have never been able to cognitively keep up with the world. and the world does not wait for slow processors. this has ultimately put me in the position to be the spectacle I am today, performing my reality lest it go unseen.

I've made it through 38 years of misunderstanding, half of which were spent masking and still it prevents me from attaining the level of care needed for me to barely function outside of this bed. please check the @ uction in bio to keep me moving towards my goal of liberation. many of the artists are chronically ill and/or disabled and every piece carries significance and is embedded with care.

thank you @murmurs.la & @gabrielledatau for making space for me. and to everyone who contributed in any shape or form.

F̲r̲i̲e̲n̲d̲s̲ ̲o̲f̲ ̲t̲h̲e̲ ̲L̲a̲b̲y̲r̲i̲n̲t̲h̲ | 𝓢𝓹𝓮𝓪𝓴𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓜𝓪𝓽𝓽𝓮𝓻
Next Friday 3/8, 8pm
🌀
Join us for the F̲r̲i̲e̲n̲d̲s̲ ̲o̲f̲ ̲t̲h̲e̲ L̲a̲b̲y̲r̲i̲n̲t̲h̲, a body of new work, music, and performances in concert with 𝓢𝓹𝓮𝓪𝓴𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓜𝓪𝓽𝓽𝓮𝓻, our oral history skill-building reference book published with @eastofborneo. Performances will occur in and the 𝐎𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫, LACA’s new street-level storytelling office.
🧩
Miguel Ayala (@miguel.ayalajr) will present his film “Dust Catchers” and perform the score live with Noah Malone. Kai-Luen Liang (kailuen3030) and abbi page (@crabbicakes) will present new multimedia and spoken word performances. New atmospheric musical works will be presented by Harisant on gong, Anja Salonen (@anjasalonen) on digital theremin, and Scott Benzel (@scottbenzel) on cellular automata. Additional works by Yixuan Tan (@yixuan_tan_) and Scott Benzel.
⏳
Like the fast-multiplying subterranean tunnels of neo-antinomians crossed with a local F̲r̲i̲e̲n̲d̲s̲ ̲o̲f̲ ̲t̲h̲e̲ L̲a̲b̲y̲r̲i̲n̲t̲h̲, we construct a diffuse sodality befriending the labyrinth, source and reflection of our delusions of reminiscence, and its ornately mirrored Minotaur, source of our profound self-unknowing.
🗣️
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 (𝐎𝐇𝐂) is a street-level storytelling program of LACA. The center further contextualizes our archival collections which continue to show complicated artistic lives. It houses artist’s stories about their teaching philosophy, descriptions of studio fires, loss of artwork, museum labor, negotiations with curators, and financial struggles.

Ty @jujuba.nak for publication design and @andrew_m_freire for programming support.
