I knew I did from the first moment we met. It was... Not love at first sight exactly, but - familiarity. Like: oh, hello, it’s you. It was always going to be you. And it’s not because he gingerly tugged on my braid when he was sitting behind me (and I pretended not to like it, but I liked it a lot). And it’s not because our first kiss was the thrilling kind, albeit embarrassingly on a stage and witnessed by an audience of people. It’s because when he looked at me, I felt seen, heard, understood and loved all at once and in that instant and the 20 years that followed, he put my soul at ease. Happy anniversary, Mick! It’s my mother’s birthday today... she has and always will be the first love of my life. She’s been living with us for the past 5 months and I wouldn’t trade this precious time with her for anything. Challenge accepted @eglantineimbert edit: it has come to my attention and in case you were not aware of this- "Turkey is one of the top countries when it comes to femicides. Most often the murderers barely get a slap on a wrist or no charges at all… Our government is trying to abolish certain aspects of [the] Istanbul Convention which is a human rights treaty that protects women against domestic violence… Turkish people wake up every day to see a black and white photo of a woman who has been murdered on their Instagram feed, on their newspapers, on their TV screens. The black and white photo challenge started as a way for women to raise their voice. To stand in solidarity with the women we have lost. Photo 1: Is from 16 years ago, when Mick took me to Joshua Tree. This trip confirmed what My heart already knew about Mick- that he is the one for me... It’s the first photo ever taken of us.
