My baby sister, @barbaralynnmartin , passed away this last weekend from complications of Huntingtons disease. I’m simultaneously devastated at her passing and thankful she is now beyond suffering. @daniellea_i_am and I are in Florida this week to be with family.

Sad isn’t bad. Sad is deeply uncomfortable and even painful, but it is not “bad”. Avoiding sad though? Oof, that begets some serious harm. There is no such thing as “negative emotions”. When they show up, they must be tended to. Not distracted from, not shoved down, not acted on, not thought about, but rather attended to….felt, witnessed, honored, allowed. So much suffering is a result of the avoidance of sadness. The fear of sadness, both in ourselves and others. Emotions are such an essential part of our ability to create Life. There is such a lack of honoring of this truth in our culture that most (all?) of us on varying levels don’t even realize when the avoidance of sadness is at the root of our actions, inactions and thought processes. Understanding this, it is essential that we not only make a conscious effort to expand our ability to surrender to sadness when it arrives and also to be gentle with ourselves when we don’t/can’t. Both/and. Deep sadness has landed for me these last couple of days and I am attempting to honor it in the best messy way I am able while also trying to attend to other life and family needs. Photo of me and Anna because she is more emotionally wise at 20 than I was at twice her age and I am so deeply grateful for the human she is. 💙 Yes, I teach on eclipse seasons…I also move through them myself.

Thanks to everyone who showed up to help us send Rachel off to Chicago with so much home town love. And to all those who came and had already left before I remembered to get a photo! And to all those who wanted to be here but couldn’t be. We appreciate you all so much! Extra thanks to Morrison and Anna for all their hard work on this gathering! Rachel moves in 11 days! 🥹♥️

We had to say goodbye to our sweet Saki today. Saki lived the first 11+ years of his life as the emotional support animal to a family member of a friend. He did good work. ♥️ He came to us in 2021 and he has been the sweetest most gentle and cuddly little guy. Always had crazy zoomies after relieving himself because he felt so good. Haha. It was awesome to watch. Whenever anyone opened the refrigerator, his head was immediately in it. 😂 Our hearts are very very heavy today, but he has been in pain for quite awhile and no longer is. His little spirit is now flying free to its next adventure. Thanks to Meg and Bubs for bringing him into our family. We are forever grateful. And thanks to my @dnaawakeningschool family for handling rescheduled appointments today and teaching/running things tonight so I can spend some time grieving. Thanks for being such a wonderful member of our family these last five years, Saki. 💔

On Father’s Day our dad offered to have us all up to his studio to take some photos. On the day when we are meant to be celebrating him. How generous is that?! We were missing Caitlin, Jack and Kaleb, but we had so much fun with all the loves that were there. There’s a lot more where this came from, but I wanted to share this one first. Golly I adore it. My dad is so incredibly good at his craft! 🥰❤️
