Summer isn’t a break from training, it’s where you build the foundation for racing season.

Strength work and speed development now build the tolerance and top-end gear your runner won’t have time to build once the season starts. This is the work that doesn’t show up on race day results, but shows up in who stays healthy through it.

Questions about summer training for your runner? Send us a DM.

Most track sessions or hard workouts shouldn’t leave you crawling on your hands and knees or racing for the like bucket.

Why do our runners look so smooth in so many of our videos? Cause they have mastered threshold training. That means they are running at a speed they can continue to buffer and not accumulate hydrogen ions (for science buffs that’s LT2) in the blood stream. Training in this zone has massive benefits to your fitness and performance capabilities.

What pace is this? For most people it’s a pace they run all out for 60 mins. So for most runners that’s around 10k to half marathon pace. Stack weeks of these workouts and you’ll see the benefits on race day!

BASE BEFORE PACE.

If your “easy run” has your heart rate sky high from the first minute… it’s not base work. It’s stress.

And stress isn’t bad.

But misplaced stress is.

Aerobic base training should:
• Improve mitochondrial density
• Expand capillary networks
• Increase fat oxidation
• Be repeatable tomorrow

Your engine adapts fast.
Your tissues don’t.

That mismatch is why so many runners end up with plantar fasciitis, Achilles pain, knee irritation, or stress reactions.

Most runners don’t lack motivation.
They lack progression.

Brisk walking. Walk-run intervals. Incline treadmill. Cycling. AlterG.

There is no shame in building the foundation.

Sprinting is fine. High heart rate is fine.

But durability comes first.

Build it patiently. Maintain it consistently.
