Yesterday we spoke to Anna who is in her 2nd year at K-State now double-majoring in Philosophy & History (pre-law) after starting out in Political Science. What is a challenge you have had to overcome? 'Definitely, living in the dorms. Sharing such a small space with so many people who were all brand new to me was definitely a challenge. This year I have a house with my friends. I'm already so excited and getting settled in. I love having my own space!' Do you have a favorite memory from your freshman year? 'Definitely going to all the football games with my friends. There's nothing like cheering on the Cats at 'The Bill'. What advice do you have for new college freshmen? 'My advice is to be outgoing. Don't be scared to say hi to people. The very first girl I ever talked to in my very first class is now my roommate! It's so important to put yourself out there. It's important to build a good community!' How has The Humboldt Promise helped you so far? 'It's taken a lot of financial stress off my shoulders, because college is expensive. It's nice to know that I've got someone helping me and investing in my future. I have a job too but it's nice that I can just work a few hours and then focus on my studies.' Keep up the great work, Anna! Wishing you an amazing year ahead. #emaw #humboldtpromise #scholarship #smalltownbigpromise

Anna, who is studying Political Science at K-State, tells us her favorite thing about college so far... 'The classes! It's nice to take something that's tailored towards my major and that I'm interested in. It's also really nice to have professors who have first-hand experience in everything that I'm studying'. When we asked why students at USD 258 should apply for the Humboldt Promise scholarship, Anna told us: 'The Humboldt Promise scholarship helps ease the financial burden of college. Receiving a scholarship also means that someone believes in your future, which in my opinion speaks volumes'. #humboldtpromise #scholarship #emaw #smalltownbigpromise #promiseproud
