Stage and Filmdesign (@buehnenklasse.students)
—

Ilja Czebulla: Kol
At the center of this installation, a white ceramic bowl serves as a symbolic white altar. The toilet is enveloped by mirrors, which begin to pulsate. The sound is not merely heard — it is seen, felt, and it exerts pressure. The space pushes this effect to its extreme: the initial overwhelm of one’s own self-images is translated into a perceptible trembling. (…) (Slide 1-3)

Jana Rabofsky (@jana.rabofsky): Der Zukunft getreue Kämpfer
„Wir sind das Bauvolk der kommenden Welt, Wir sind der Sämann, die Saat und das Feld. Wir sind die Schnitter der kommenden Mahd, Wir sind die Zukunft und wir sind die Tat.“ Social Democrats sang these words in 1933 - the year in which parliament is dissolved and Austro-fascism seizes power. What did the builders of a future world leave behind? And how do they fare today? We take a look inside the fictional office of a parliamentarian. (…)(Slide 4-6)

Anna Reichmayr (@anna.rm8): Mein Ensemble
Mona dangles her feet happily. Heinz writhes in conflict. All members of my ensemble revolve endlessly within their emotion. Allow themselves to be moved — by me, by you. They embody the interior. Are ceramic marionettes. Figures on cranks and threads. An allegorical ensemble in six parts. (Slide 7-9)

Bataillon: SYMBIOSE

⠀
One of the most interesting episodes during this project happened to me while doing individual research on the subject. I went to the university library and picked a random book about symbiogenesis that I found fitting from a quick look - only to realise after the first lines that it was written by a Russian botanist and evolutionary biologist, Boris Kozo-Polyansky, who I have never heard about before.
⠀
Approximately eighty five years prior to modern knowledge on symbiotic origin, Kozo-Polyansky laid the foundation for this scientific field having no microscopes or any adequate tools. This person and event attributed to him somehow made a deep impression on me, so here are short and favourite excerpts from Kozo-Polyansky's book:
⠀
«Natura facit saltum [Nature _does_ make leaps]»
⠀
«Not only is a cell not an elementary machine — it is not a machine at all.
A cell is a system, i.e., a collection of autonomous, self-sufficient bodies that only to a _certain degree have lost their individuality_»
⠀
«If one believes that an organism is a machine, then one has to accept that the struggle for existence extends from social units to the entire organism. It seems absurd to talk about the struggle for existence among parts of a machine, which were “made” with an aim to preserve a certain form, take a certain place, and play a certain role — to be parts of a whole»
⠀
«One can think, for example, that in sociology, the organic theory of society, in its classical Spencer-Lilienfeld version, will completely lose its significance, and that psychology will finally solve the issue of the causes of “split personality”, of the natural basis for this condition, familiar to many, which is reflected in the famous lines:
⠀
Zwei Seelen wohnen, ach! in meinem Brust
Die eine will sich von der andern trennen…
⠀
(Two souls, alas, reside within my breast
And each withdraws from, and repels, its brother.)
⠀
Goethe, Faust, pt. 1, chap. 2»
