A short and sweet season that was actually pretty wonderful. A handful of powder days, lots of sunny days, and endless good vibes. Stoked to share the season with so many good people ❄️☀️

Hi… I’m JoDee.
The idea for this group hit me after I moved to Twain Harte, got a job at Dodge Ridge running the housekeeping team 🥴. I started meeting friends who took mountain adventures beyond anything I’d tried before. I had one season of trying to link turns on my snowboard under my belt before trying to send it all over the mountain during a record-breaking winter with people I thought were way too cool for me. Something in me just said, “GO FOR IT!” (Still no pro 😬, but hey—if I can go for it, anyone can.)
I built a home for myself in the mountains, and my friends introduced me to everything—mountain biking, climbing, backpacking, trail running, fishing, splitboarding, camping, and one of my faves… laying at the lake. If it sounded fun, I was in.
One thing that helped me level up in all these sports was being around women also chasing their “next level.” That’s when I thought: how cool would a group chat be where we can reach each other to go do the things we love?
Cue my wanna-be-entrepreneur brain: “Let’s do meetups! And I can practice my school skills—social media, photography — and incorporate playing outside and making friends.”
After texting a handful of friends to go climbing one evening, I finally said, “Let’s just start the chat.” My pals were super supportive. We brainstormed a bunch of ridiculous names and landed on OUT OF THE KITCHEN. Then we started adding every girl we thought would be into it.
Now the chat (linked in the IG bio) has 89 members, we now are on Instagram AND Facebook, and we’ve hosted tons of fun meetups—our gear + clothing swaps are always the favorites.
I also recently moved in with my friend Anna (you’ll meet her next!), who has pushed me on a snowboard, hung with me at the climbing gym countless times, and helped dream up endless ideas to grow this space for women.
Some friends told me it might help to put faces to the name Out of the Kitchen! People ask, “Are you the creator? ” and honestly I get awkward taking the kudos. I’m proud of the idea, but the real credit goes to everyone who has shown up, supported, and built this with me. It wouldn’t exist without you reading this right now.
