A week out from my second Embers & Thyme gathering, I find myself reflecting on the day and all the emotions I felt being surrounded by women who inspire me…creative, passionate, and each so uniquely themselves.

It was a day to celebrate the different things that make us who we are, and the women who pour so much love into what they create. Whether it has grown into a small business or remains simply a passion they’ve chosen to share, there is something so special about watching someone’s gift ignite something in another person they didn’t even know they needed.

We ended the day with Lilit guiding us through a beautiful meditation centered around personal abundance..
a reminder that abundance isn’t always about having more. Sometimes it is simply slowing down long enough to recognize how much already exists within us and around us. Our gifts. Our time. Our friendships. Our creativity. The people who show up for us. The ordinary moments we so easily overlook.

In so many ways, Embers & Thyme and the products I began creating led me to many of these incredible women. Others were new faces, invited by friends, each arriving with something uniquely their own to share. That alone has been one of the most unexpected gifts of this journey.

In this chapter of my life, I’m learning to recognize both my strengths and my limitations.. and to be at peace with both. I may not always have the trending audio, the perfect viral hook, or know how to keep up with everything moving so quickly around us. But that day, I felt something far more meaningful to me.

I felt connected. Grounded. Supported. Encouraged. Understood.

It felt real.

We live in a world that is more connected than ever, yet somehow we can feel more distant from one another than ever before. We gave one another something increasingly rare… our presence, our time, our attention, and the freedom to simply be ourselves.

Maybe that is abundance too. Not constantly searching for what is missing or what comes next, but having the gratitude to recognize what is already here.

Still reflecting. Still grateful. And so excited to see where this little ember leads next. 🤍 #embersandthyme #embersandthymegatherings

SOURDOUGH! RECIPE⬇️ Sharing how I make my sourdough because you’ve been asking me for years! I learned how to make sourdough by the one and only @anna_sayabalian and it has changed my life. My family thanks me everyday for making the most delicious bread ever!
If you have sourdough starter, you’re golden, and if you don’t, you can easily buy some or get some from a friend who bakes sourdough.
INGREDIENTS-
365 grams Filtered water
100 grams Active starter
500 grams organic AP flour (Costco)
12 grams Salt
Rice flour for dusting and for the benneton.

NOTE-You need a kitchen scale to make this recipe.
DIRECTIONS-
Add water to bowl and add starter. Dissolve starter and add the flour. You can do a combination of flours if you like, as long as you have 500 g total.
Mix in the flour by hand for around 2 minutes or until well combined. Scrape off sides with a rubber scraper. Cover and set in a warm area for around 45 minutes. Colder rooms will take longer, so adjust bulk fermentation time accordingly.
Uncover and add the salt and a few sprinkles of water. You can squish it in and then do slap and folds. Cover again and wait another 40-45 minutes.
Do two more coil folds (See video) 40 minutes apart.
Finally, once the dough looks ready (Pulls away easily from the bowl and looks jiggly) tip it onto your counter. Dough should come out easily.
Shape the dough (See video) and place into the benneton. Stitch the dough to create a seam. Cover and place into refrigerator overnight or up to 3 days. The longer it ferments the more sour it will be.
Next day, place Dutch oven in a 500 degree oven to preheat for 20-30 minutes.
Flip your dough onto a sling (if using) and score using a lame or sharp razor. One deep score at an angle and smaller, shallow scores for decoration. Carefully add the dough to the hot Dutch oven. Cover and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover, lower the heat to 450 and bake until golden. Remove and allow to cool before cutting.
Please note-I know there are thousands of ways to make sourdough. This is what works for me, and how I was taught. There are so many variables, be kind to yourself. #mimosasandsamosas #sourdough #sourdoughbread
