A most precious moment during my preview-days in Venice: On my way to the airport, as my last visit to a Biennale-venue, I passed by TIMOR-LESTE’S (@timorleste_ ) inaugural pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale (@labiennale ), presenting MARIA MADEIRA’s (@mariamadeira._ ) project ā€žKiss and Don’t Tellā€œ (2024), curated by Natalie King (@natalieking_curator )

Madeira’s exhibition coincides with the 22nd anniversary of Timor-Leste’s independence from Indonesia and is breathtakingly beautiful, deeply felt and masterfully curated. Maria Madeira gives a voice to the painful incidents and conflicts of her country, where words cannot describe and cannot mend. Deeply moved by the installation, I was lucky to get the opportunity to express my respect and compliments to the artist, who answered with a long and affectionate hug. Maria Madeira’s exhibition and this hug still resonate with me, I left Venice with an immense gift.

Heartfelt congratulations, also to the curator NATALIE KING (on the picture) and to the organisers and Anna Schwartz (@anna_schhh ), who supported this extraordinary project.
