A lot of people have been asking, so it feels like it’s finally time to share.

Last year, as many of you know,
@shane_oporto and I took one of the biggest leaps of our lives and opened a restaurant together. We poured everything we had into it, and I can honestly say we loved every second of bringing that dream to life. It was exhausting, exhilarating, and one of the most meaningful things we’ve ever been part of.

This past February, we made the difficult decision to walk away.

The truth is pretty simple: our partnership with the investor wasn’t the right fit anymore, and leaving was the best decision for us. It wasn’t because we fell out of love with the restaurant —quite the opposite. We still miss it every day. We miss the team, the regulars, the creativity, and being part of Lowertown.

What we built during that time makes us incredibly proud. Somehow we found ourselves on the 2025 Best New Restaurant list and the 2025 Best New Bar list, and that’s something we’ll always get to carry with us.

But if we’re being honest, the people will always mean more than the awards. The team we built was so special and truly one of the best gifts to come from this experience. To everyone who showed up and supported us and cared as deeply as we did—thank you. You made that place what it was, and we’ll always love you for it.

As the space changes hands, it’ll become someone else’s vision, and that’s okay. We just want to be clear that the chapter we created there is the only reflection of us. (And if you see us still popping up in Instagram videos… those were filmed before we left. Apparently social media didn’t get the memo)

If there’s anything more to say, it’s this: keep showing up for Lowertown. It became home for us in so many ways, but beyond that, it’s one of the most incredible communities we’ve ever had the privilege of being part of. The people, the small businesses, and the neighborhood itself deserve every bit of the love and support you can give them.

We wouldn’t change a thing. We’re grateful we got to live our dream, even if it didn’t last forever.

Here’s to the next adventure whatever that may beā¤ļø
