POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This is where one of my favorite travel stories began. ❤️

In 2008, my one-year-old, Annabeth, got Pooh Bear at Walt Disney World.

At the time, he was just a souvenir. Except he wasn’t.

Pooh became her constant companion. He was loved, carried, slept with, traveled with and held through all the little moments of growing up. And all these years later in college, she still has him.

Looking at this photo now, I can’t help but think about how we never really know which moments from a vacation will become THE moments.

Sometimes it’s the castle. Sometimes it’s a favorite attraction. And sometimes it’s a little Pooh Bear tucked into the arms of a one-year-old who has no idea she just met her best friend.

This is why I believe so deeply in what we do at Pixie Dust & Pirate Hooks. We plan vacations, yes. But what families bring home can become part of their story for years to come.

Every vacation begins with a story.

And this one is still being written. 💛

First day of school looked a little different for our Annabeth this year. 🤍

After a whirlwind change of plans at the end of summer, she decided not to return to Auburn and transferred to Alabama, where she’ll be taking classes online from home.

Auburn simply wasn’t what she had hoped it would be, and you know what? That’s okay. Sometimes the place you think you’re supposed to be turns out not to be your place at all.

So for now, she’s home, focusing on school, figuring out what this next phase of life looks like, and taking it one step at a time. It wasn’t what any of us planned, but I’ve learned that some of the best things in life have come from plans that changed. And let’s be honest, I’m thankful to have her home!

We love this girl more than she will ever know, and we’re proud of her for continuing to move forward while she figures out what comes next. 🩷

She now says “Roll Tide”... but let the record show that the rest of us absolutely will not. 😂🧡💙

Here’s to new beginnings, unexpected turns, and our Annabeth finding her way.

Today we said goodbye to Zizi 🤍

For 15 years, she was part of our family and at 17 years old, she lived a full, beautiful life that we will always be grateful for.

Zizi was Annabeth’s kitty. From the very beginning, they found each other…and in so many ways, they rescued each other. Through every season, good days and hard ones, Zizi was there, always reminding Annabeth she was loved.

When I was going through cancer, Zizi stayed right by my side. She would lay with me, making sure I rested, not letting me move when I needed to be still. When that season passed, she went right back to her girl.

She loved all of us, but Annabeth was her person.

We are so thankful for every year, every moment, every memory. Our hearts will miss her more than words can say… but we know how lucky we were to have her in our lives.

We love you, sweet Zizi. 🐾 Thank you for loving us.
