POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

My mom and I, flowers were kind of our thing. She would often say not to get her flowers because they’re “too expensive for something that’s only going to die anyway”.
I always saw it differently. I love receiving flowers and love giving them too.

Despite her apparent stance, every time I’d give her flowers, she was rhapsodic about them. She’d put them at the foot of her bed so that she could see them every morning when she first woke up. She LOVED getting flowers.

Over her bed, in her final home, she had two enormous framed photos of deeply hued (almost eggplant colored) orchids.

She passed away on 8/21/25 in her bed under those flowers.

By the time I got into the car to drive back to my hotel, it was after 3am. When I turned on the ignition, a song immediately came over the speakers. This had never happened before in all of the time I had been driving my mom’s car. It was streaming from my own phone. The song: U2’s ‘Iris (Hold Me Close)’. I immediately knew it was her. I didn’t know that my mom even knew U2’s Music. She clearly got more expansive taste in the afterlife.

THEN… less than a month after I returned home, I got a call from @annastasel for @urbanstems , asking to book me for a shoot. When I got to set, @dearesterica dressed me in these beautiful hues and explained to me that she had borrowed the gloves and scarf from her own mother‘s closet.

I was then handed a bouquet of eggplant colored lilies.

I told this story I now tell you, right there on set. I managed not to cry and ruin my makeup.

My mother has continued to give me flowers from the other side; numerous times and always in delightful and surprising ways.
