Ever had a flatmate cover your house in passive aggressive post it notes? How about a landlord “fixing” a broken plug by painting over it in Hospital White? Or had to get around an HMO licence by pretending to be deeply in love with some rando from SpareRoom you just met?

Join us on 10 November at Aces and Eights for a night of stand up comedy and housing/renting horror stories! Featuring brilliant, award winning, and very funny comedians and one reasonably charismatic MC. Bring your best / worst stories and we will all trauma bond together 🔥🏠🔥

All proceeds going to Shelter.

⭐️ WILLOW MARLER: SHE IT. THEY IT. SORTED. ⭐️
-
What an absolute pleasure to announce the next date of my work in progress show will be at @thequeercomedyclub no less!
-
Through self-deprecating storytelling and silly wordplay, explore what it means for someone to feel like a woman when they can be bothered to, as I explain the arduous process of changing my name (it’s actually dead easy), getting shot in the face (at a salon with a laser), and how my transition journey mirrors that of Tottenham Hotspur (that’s a football club apparently).
-
Plus, I’ll be joined by special guest opening act @annathegray! She’s an absolute gem who has previously opened for @romeshranga, so in many ways, I’m on his level?

Publication week for Cinnamon Crumb is complete! One more scrumptious display painted for @hskwaterstones @waterstoneskensington followed by a wonderful launch party with lots of lovely and talented friends, family & the @usborne_books team for which I made the (perhaps foolish) decision to bake a four tier cake with fresh vanilla cream, strawberries, homemade jam, chocolate shards and shortbread (plus a batch of madeleines, in case the cake wasn’t enough), and then transport it to the bookshop on a packed tube train. It tasted good, though 😋🍰

Huge thank you to everyone who came along - it was so nice to catch up with everyone and it really meant a lot to be able to celebrate this book after all the work that’s gone into it. 🎉🥰

Scroll along for some assorted pics including the super cute biscuits Usborne ordered (featuring the book cover!), a gorgeous group photo courtesy of @kateelizabethweston (the only one, because I always forget to take enough!), some close-ups of the window painting (my thighs still ache from crouching in that window for hours 😩), my awesomely kind and hilarious friend @annathegray, and the incredible bakery-themed jacket my sister appliquéd (on the day of the launch!! 🔥).

I’ve always found the public-facing aspect of this job difficult, but since my autism diagnosis I’ve felt more able to understand why that is, and, for once, to try and give myself the grace and rest I need. To be able to launch this book, which features so many trans & neurodiverse characters, has been overwhelming but joyful at the same time, and I can’t wait to see what young readers think of it 💜
