What a productive, inspiring and uplifting month I just spent at @macdowell1907! What a gift to have had the freedom to create in this gorgeous place with these amazing people! I’ll forever be grateful.

I recently completed a residency at the MacDowell Colony, where I continued work on my long-term project When Dogs Howl. I also had the opportunity to meet and share with distinguished artists from around the world and learn about their work.

Among the highlights of my residency was the opportunity to play piano four-hands with vibraphonist and composer Yuhan Su — on Leonard Bernstein’s piano!

I also completed one of the big band pieces for When Dogs Howl — my long-term work on the migrant soundscapes of Venezuelan refugees.

MacDowell is one of the greatest gifts on this earth. A place where artists can work free from the pressures of the world — the inspiring surroundings invite deep reflection, slowing down, and bonding. I felt seen, heard, inspired, and appreciated.

There are spaces inside me reserved only for you.

O amante. O desejo. O vírus. O Estado. A memória.

There are spaces inside me reserved only for you.

Obrigaids @macdowell1907 and fellows pelo suporte ❤️

This season marks the 41st anniversary of the Franklin Furnace FUND. Initiated in 1985 with the support of Jerome Foundation, Franklin Furnace has annually awarded grants to early career artists selected by peer panel review to enable them to prepare major performance art works in New York. This season, Franklin Furnace received 498 applications.

Congratulations to artists:

Thank you!

Anna Ting Möller is an artist based in New York and Stockholm. Through sculpture, installation and material research, her work intertwines the life cycles of a kombucha mother culture with performative forms to explore care, monstrosity, and the formation of disruptive kinships.

"During my time at the residency, I gave myself time to experiment developing a skin suit by reworking and dehydrating scraps from previous projects. Creating a paste that I could sculpt and mold into new forms.

The process was a trial and error. In terms of producing an outcome, it was so, so successful, but that ultimately felt unimportant. What I valued most was the experience of working without fully knowing where the process would lead. The freedom in trusting the material and allowing uncertainties to arise.

Unfortunately, it is rare that I make space for that kind of openness in my everyday practice. My schedule is often structured around deadlines, expectations, and the pressure to complete things on time. At MASS MoCA, however, I was able to step outside of those routines. An opportunity to reconnect with experimentation and to embrace not knowing, follow intuition, and enjoy it!
