Last week we were immersed in @cigharvey universe🌼

On Wednesday, we gathered at @ivar_stockholm for an artist talk with Cig and Fotografiska’s Jessica Jarl, a conversation on art, beauty, and finding meaning in uncertain times, followed by a tour of her exhibition and a screening of the awardwinning documentary EAT Flowers.

Thursday — An exclusive lunch with a carefully selected group of art lovers, and an intimate dinner in the evening, inspired by the recipes in Cig’s books, both with Cig herself as our guide through her exhibition and signing books.

Colour, flowers, food, and art. Spring arrived all at once.

Cig has returned home, but her works remain on view at the Matchstick Palace. We’d love to guide you into her universe — whether you’re curious about collecting or want to experience her works or book a lunch or a dinner event out of the ordinary.

Thank you to Jessica Jarl, Susanne Bonnier, Anna Zachrisson & the wonderful team at IVAR Stockholm. 🌿

Discover the beauty of this ancient olive tree from Mallorca, captured in the series “Movement” by award-winning Danish photographer Jacob Gils.

Our summer exhibition *See a World in a Grain of Sand* at the Matchstick Palace (part of @Kapitel8) in Stockholm. Curated in collaboration with Anna Zachrisson, Gils' Artist Liaison and agent for Sweden, this exhibit invites you to see the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Inspired by William Blake's 1806 poem, the exhibition's title reflects the idea of finding meaning in small things. Each work on display offers a fresh perspective, encouraging you to explore the world with a sense of wonder.

As Roger Ballen puts it, "Photography tells you that every second in time is different from every other second." Jimmy Nelson adds, "Photographs open doors into the past, but also allow a look into the future." Vee Speers captures this essence beautifully: "Photography can stop time and hold it captive in a frame, making the ephemeral eternal."

Presented by WILLAS contemporary, this exhibition features the works of renowned photographers Roger Ballen, Jacob Gils, Arno Rafael Minkkinen, Jimmy Nelson, Helene Schmitz, and Vee Speers.

DM Anna Zachrisson or Ellen-K Willas for an appointment. We're open from 9-5, Monday-Friday. Welcome!

SEE A WORLD IN A GRAIN OF SAND
A GROUP SHOW AT IVAR STOCKHOLM IN COLLABORATION WITH WILLAS CONTEMPORARY, RUNNING FROM JUNE 20TH - OCTOBER 5TH, 2024
Swedish artist Helene Schmitz once noted that her series Earth Works from Namibia reminded her of an hourglass. As time passed, the empty rooms in the abandoned mine town slowly filled with sand, transforming them into gigantic hourglasses.

The title of our summer exhibition, See a World in a Grain of Sand, is drawn from William Blake’s poem Auguries of Innocence, written in 1806. It encapsulates the idea of finding profound meaning in the smallest of things and symbolizes how innocence and wonder allow one to perceive the extraordinary in the ordinary. This sentiment resonates through the works on display, as each photograph encourages viewers to see the world from a new perspective.

Photography stops time, capturing moments and non-moments that might otherwise slip away. Roger Ballen reflects on this idea: “Photography tells you that every second in time is different from every other second.” Jimmy Nelson believes, “Photographs open doors into the past, but also allow a look into the future.” Vee Speers captures the essence of time in her work: “Photography can stop time and hold it captive in a frame, making the ephemeral eternal.”

The sales exhibition is organized by WILLAS contemporary, and features works by;

Roger Ballen
Jacob Gils*
Arno Rafael Minkkinen
Jimmy Nelson
Helene Schmitz
Vee Speers
