When in St-Louis for @stlgetdown , we wanted to test how long our knicker bocker backflip could go. 🌭🌮🏛️

Little did we know, @noah_the_price_is_right and @emilyd1316 were dancing right under that gateway arch as we threw it! 🫪🙌

We really love that air step and working on getting it longer and more fluid like Jessyca Samuels and Blue Outlaw is really fun. Never done revisiting those classics. ✨

This is why we’re in this as acrobats, the PROCESS of setting a goal that’s equally terrifying and exciting, pushing our limits, our capacities, keeping us aligned with our own process of becoming, working with another and towards a common goal… getting closer to it and living through it. ❤️‍🔥

Ramsès @ramus31 has been such a good sports in this adventure, being SO SOLID, yet so understanding and patient with me (Annie @annie_trudeau_ ) . We were getting ready for the Canadian Swing championships (we made 2nd!) and we really weren’t sure this special air step would end up being in our performance. But we did it! 🥹🥰

Original dancers would probably have called this one ‘’Handspring Over the head’’ as two popular air steps are combined into one in this case!
✅ The Handspring front flip that is commonly called ‘’pancake’’ nowadays, and
✅ the Over-the-Head, which some call ‘’Pop over or coochy toss...’’

Special thanks to friend Bobby White @bobbyswungover for the repeated help providing me with precious dance history info and in this case, footage from the 1938 Harvest Moonball competition showing most likely Mae Miller dancing with Walter Johnson performing this air step, and going straight into tandem charleston. *fire*. #og #lindyhop 🙏

Thanks to @paragymspace for providing a safe space to practice.

The Lindy Air team and I (Annie) love air steps and that’s no secret obviously.
But are they essential to Lindy Hop?
Here’s what I think ⬆️
