Beauty fades but dumb is forever

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I was walking home with too much fruit and veg I hadn’t intended to buy. My arms were loaded because I can’t handle anymore reusable bags in the cupboards. I fooled myself into believing I could carry it all home. No problem 😂💪
I saw a girl walking.
She was walking and READING.
Not a device in site.
Wow. How cool.
She was so focused and didn’t notice me for a block.
I had to get capture this rare moment.
I whipped out my phone (cue Alannis and her definition of irony), and started to plan how I could capture her without her looking up.
She looked up.
I📸❤️ Bam Bam!

Doing some digital housekeeping and stumbled across this throwback gem—hard to believe this look was created nearly thirteen years ago. I remember being in an experimental phase, playing with four different sets of lashes to see how far I could push their impact.

Even back then, I was drawn to creating movement and flow in my designs. You can really see it in this look on the stunning @ANNIKADOW. Bold, curvaceous lines sweep across a pale canvas, guiding the eye from the forehead, through the eyes, cascading with the hair into the hollows of the cheeks, and finally the braided detail of the hair around the neck.

At the time, this definitely wasn’t considered a “marketable” beauty look—the industry was still obsessed with the polished perfection of “no makeup” makeup. Anything beyond a simple clean base was often dismissed. I remember being told my work was too avant-garde, that it wouldn’t work, that I needed to tone it down to fit in. But I was bored of doing just skin. I didn’t want to be safe—I wanted to create something that felt like ME.

Because at the end of the day, do you want to be known for doing what everyone else is doing? Or for forging your own path and creating something that reflects you? I believe artistry should be a reflection of your essence—a visual language that’s unapologetically yours. Be proud of what you’ve created and that’s all that matters. 🖤
