Sometimes a photoshoot goes off in an unexpected direction, and you just have to be present and responsive to see where it takes you. Annie Hockeysmith’s music is an atmospheric blend of electro-pop, experimental electronica and shoegaze, and we were looking to make images that reflected that. But this photoshoot took place just after Annie had just returned to Cornwall from an extended residence at an old French chateaux, and a sense of grand decadence gone to seed was in the air. We had The Cure’s ‘Faith’ playing loud in the studio and those dark gothic vibes fed into the moody sensibility of these shots.
