✨WOW✨ I’m still combing through the pics from my 30th birthday, so this poorly edited reel will have to do for now. People got on planes, trains, and drove hours to celebrate my special day with me. I’m #blessed ❤️

hat girl summer 🧢☀️💘✌️

There’s been a lot of talk in ~influencer spaces~ lately about tanning, where the best beaches are for “laying out” and which oils will get you the darkest shade the quickest. While everyone has the right to choose what they do with their body, I feel called to share an alternative perspective. If I can have any “influence”, I’d want it to be this.

I grew up with both of my parents having skin cancer, and as an Australian I know that isn’t rare. Having now lost one of them forever to it, I could not feel more passionately about protecting our skin from the (especially harsh Aussie) sun.

It is so wonderful and necessary to spend time outdoors, feeling the rays on our skin and photosynthesising, but I think it’s so important to be aware of the damage that can occur, and the ways to prevent it. Bucket hats and reapplying milky white sunscreen might not feel cool, but I will always choose looking dorky over a burn. Not only does extended sun exposure age you prematurely, it only takes a few burns to exponentially increase your risk of skin cancer. As a kid it’s easy to think you’re immune, but I can tell you from how much this has impacted my life — it’s simply not worth the risk.

Dad always told me he’d pay for me to get a spray tan if I ever wanted one, because he’d do anything to keep me from letting my skin get damaged too. That both warms and breaks my heart, and I hope I can pass that same message along to someone else.

More than 2 in 3 Aussies will be diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetime.
About 2,000 Australians die from skin cancer each year.
These are statistics I see no reason we can’t change.

Slip slop slap, enjoy the shade and get regular checks 🤍

Self love is more than just bubble baths, face masks and hot girl walks - it’s taking care of your biggest organ, knowing that this body is the only one we have for life.

Be kind to it 🫶
