$25,902 raised + 304 backers from all corners of our community = another successful @kickstarter campaign in the books (pun 100% intended) ! 📚

This campaign was never just about hitting a number: it was living proof that AAPI stories deserve to exist in the world. To everyone who backed, shared, or cheered us on: THANK YOU. We mean it from the bottom of our hearts. 🙏🏼 ❤️

It was definitely one of the most stressful campaigns we’ve ever run, and we were only able to do it because this community shows up when it really matters. Because of your support, we’ll be able to fund the production of our first two books and make our debut authors’ dreams a reality. ✨

👀 A new sneak peek into Soup Dumplings Don’t Eat Cheese! as we get ready to send one of our first books to print 🥟 Every spread here carries something intentional. @mslynnchen wrote this story from her own history with body image and identity — the kind of thing she wished she’d had language for as a kid. @annychen.art took that and gave it shape: designing Little Dumpling and Mama as visual opposites on purpose, soft and rounded versus sharp and precise, and folding in little details from her own upbringing along the way. This book has been years in the making, made with more care than a caption can really capture. And it doesn’t reach print without you.

🥟 Meet Little Dumpling, the star of our children’s picture book, Soup Dumplings Don‘t Eat Cheese!

It’s her Pleat Day: the day she officially becomes the perfect little soup dumpling. She‘s got big, bold plans to celebrate. Mama has other ideas…a plain beige wrapper, a thermos of boring broth, tradition as usual. So Little Dumpling has to figure out how to honor her family and make room for herself 🧀

Written by Lynn Chen and illustrated by Anny Chen – this is a warm, playful story about culture, identity, and the courage to be exactly who you are.

This is a big one for us 🥹 9 years ago, Slant’d started as a dream – a handful of post-it notes and a wish to build something that didn’t exist yet for AAPI storytellers. Now, we’re ready to do something we’ve never done before: publish our very first books.
🎧 Eternal: Tales of an East Side Pinoy is @itsdjeternal’s love letter to the East Side San Jose that raised him.
🥟 Soup Dumplings Don’t Eat Cheese is @mslynnchen’s story about learning to love yourself exactly as you are.

And this video? Shot and produced by Jeff Wu and Kelsey Tang of @popeyemedia.la – who are also Eternal’s co-authors. That’s Slant’d in a nutshell: a fully volunteer-run press where the community doesn’t just tell the stories, they help build everything around them too.
