BEACH DAY
our new album is out now 🏖️

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The question I’m asking you with this amazing song and story to go with it, is which band or bands made you cry at a gig? Music is such an incredible thing. To make grown people cry with a melody or a perfect moment, a vibration, is mind blowing. The full list of bands that have made years uncontrollably roll down my cheeks are, in order, The Verve, Delays, Placebo, Gary Numan and most recently Another Sky. First band I saw after lockdown and when @catrinvincent hit the first note of Fell In Love With The City, I bawled my eyes out. What’s your list? I’d love to know. #TheVerve #ninetiesmusic #music #indiemusic #inspiration

5 years ago today on the 25 Aug 2001 - @anothersky at @earthackney performing Burn The Way - one of my favourite songs from their second album Beach Day.

Warning: video contains flashing lights

Great support from @ailsatully & @weareplasticmermaids (check them out)

Second time I’d seen Another Sky on this tour and twice within a week. The Hackney gig was absolutely stunning from start to finish.
Breathtaking vocals from @catrinvincent

I miss this band.

Our Art of Listening series continues this month with a new edition from Keith Jopling, exploring the fragile reality of being a working band in today’s music industry, from the internal dynamics that hold groups together to the external pressures that can pull them apart.

Drawing on examples from You Me At Six to Another Sky, Keith reflects on the emotional and cultural impact of band break-ups for both artists and fans. Through stories of promise, perseverance and premature endings, he examines what it takes for a band not just to form but to survive.

In an era where sustaining a music career is increasingly difficult, Keith considers what longevity really means and why even short-lived bands can leave a lasting legacy.

“A working band is a contentious team that makes its own rules, unites incongruous personalities, works beyond (or revels in) limitations, aims for improbable synergies and makes a lot of noise along the way. There’s friction, but there’s also purpose; there’s instinct along with calculation.”

Not bad considering this was the first attempt at Layla and playing it by ear!

Beach Day
Another Sky (2024)

Spinning the latest offering from @anothersky I stumbled across their first album and loved it so I thought I should give their next a go. It’s quite different from their debut but still brilliant. Being of a certain age I would say it has a bit of of 90s vibe. The lead singer has the most interesting voice which takes the music to another level.
