Words fail to express what a beautiful serendipity ‘Memories of Belonging’ became for us all. But like many serendipities, this chance encounter was not merely by chance. Many strings of memories and interconnected stories led us all to find each other in this Beech Ki Jagah. Be it a perfume, mama’s bangles, an old leaf that could have withered away but stayed, preserved, protected. All these memories are becoming, returning, fragmenting, rupturing, mending. 🪡 🖊️

The four days were filled with nostalgia, vivid imagination, and concentrated sessions by our facilitators.
Day One was all about time travel, as we talked and traversed in the murky waters of memory with kindred spirits. 🪻

Day Two and Three we read the works of Lahiri and Fadwa Tuqan, we learned about the lively world of South-asian embroidery, we told and witnessed each other’s stories. We even had the privilege of viewing two separate art exhibitions, one of which was an unconventional pop-up in our very own Itwaar Bazaar. 🖼️

Even though these four days are over, the process of creation has just begun. Stay with us as we pour all the love in what we make with our bare hands, bear witness to us! 💛

Here are some glimpses from our first workshop! We heard and wrote a variety of memories, anecdotes and reflections while keeping our hands busy threading needles. 📸

Our participants even visited the exhibition “Tidal Paths” curated by Abdullah Qureshi at @anotherspace.olo which offered a variety of gorgeous works in a plethora of mediums! 🖼️

Thank you to @olomopolo and our facilitators for organising a fantastic two days! We’ve got an upcoming lineup of events for you and of course Vol. 2 in the works!

See you all then. 🌿
