You’re looking at three excellent reasons to get excited about November 13th.

Our 2026 First Edition Literary Gala chairs, Shannon De Leon, Anna Herd, and Andrea Rado, are getting ready to host an evening worthy of your favorite book people. We can’t wait to see it all come together!

Our Gala committee tried to agree on a single favorite book this fall. We failed spectacularly.

Instead, we’re sharing the Texas Book Festival titles we keep recommending to friends. Our picks span frontier fiction, sharp social satire, stories of sisterhood, and a little baking. Consider your reading stack a few books taller:

* “All the Little Houses” - May Cobb @may_cobb
* “The Beauty of Days Gone By” - Jason Stone @jstone_writer
* “Last Night in Brooklyn” - Xochitl Gonzalez @xochitltheg
* “Superfan” - Jenny Tinghui Zhang @sunspotletters
* “The Shampoo Effect” - Jenny Jackson @jennyjacksonpineapple
* “Redemption” - Lawrence Wright @lawrencewrightauthor
* “Will This Make You Happy” - Tanya Bush @will.this.make.me.happy
* “Encounters with Unexpected Animals” - Bret Anthony Johnston

The Gala is sold out, but @texasbookfest belongs to everyone. Swipe through our committee’s picks, then tell us: which one is going on your list?

Today’s 2026 First Edition Literary Gala meeting had all the makings of reading a good book: different perspectives, a compelling vision, and a bold story taking shape.

We gathered to continue planning this year’s sold-out celebration of books and the people who bring them to life, taking place on Friday, November 13th.

Thank you to our chairs, Shannon De Leon, Anna Herd, and Andrea Hamilton, as well as our volunteer committee, Texas Book Festival staff, and TBF Executive Director Marianne DeLeón, for joining us today. We see the time, creativity, and care you’re putting into every detail of this event.

We’re grateful to be part of this community that shows up for books and literacy.

It was such an honor to be asked to join my sweet little friend, Juliet Hamilton, for the “Grandparents and Special Visitors Mass” at St. Louis Catholic Church this morning. I’m so proud to be called her “Grandfriend.”

And thank you to @anrado and Chase Hamilton for raising such a wonderful young lady. 🤍

I’m beyond thrilled to celebrate the publication of Transcendence: A Century of Black Queer Ecstasy, 1924-20241
What began as a vision has become something so much greater—a vibrant testament to the beauty, brilliance, joy, creativity, resistance, and boundless imagination of Black queer life across generations. Seeing this book out in the world is both surreal and deeply affirming.
This moment belongs to so many people. Endless thanks to every artist, writer, scholar, archivist, collaborator, editor, designer, supporter, and friend who poured their gifts, passion, trust, and care into making this publication possible. Your brilliance lives on every page, and I am profoundly grateful to have shared this journey with you.
Here’s to honoring those who came before us, celebrating the magic of the present, and dreaming boldly toward the futures we continue to create together.
I can’t wait for this book to find its way into your hands. Tomorrow marks the grand opening of The Confluence, Waterloo Greenway’s newest addition connecting downtown Austin to Lady Bird Lake.

Located just steps from Vesper, the new trail system expands access to parks, public space, and the waterfront right in the heart of downtown.

The Vesper sales team will be on-site from 9 AM–3 PM for tours and to answer questions about move-in-ready residences.

Stop by and say hello.

The Code was designed for people who keep finding their way back to Austin. Ownership gives you a place waiting in the middle of it.

Had a great time celebrating one year in our new Austin office with a visit from Christie’s International President, Gavin Swartzman. Yesterday’s party and this morning’s insightful talk on the strength of the Christie’s network were truly inspiring. Grateful for the opportunity to connect with such a smart, grounded, and genuine leader at the helm.

The Confluence officially opens June 6th, connecting Waterloo Greenway to Lady Bird Lake, the trail system, and downtown in a whole new way and Vesper is right in the middle of it.

We’ll be open from 9 AM– 3 PM with tours, drinks, snacks, and full access to the amenities and available residences throughout the day.

Come see what’s changing around the neighborhood and what it’s like to live in the center of it.

Meet in the lobby before heading out together for a community walk along Lady Bird Lake. Catch the bats at sunset, get outside and meet more of your neighbors along the way.
