The Belgian EMPUSAE and Japanese SHINKIRO projects have been used to collaborating with other experimental musicians since the beginning of their work, and in 2011 they finally collaborated together for the first time. Their first work, „Organic.Aural.Ornaments“ was released back then as a CD on Ant-Zen and at first glance seemed like a rather unspectacular work. However, in the end, the album turned out to be extremely layered and fascinating. Over EMPUSAE’s subtly restrained rhythm patterns, SHINKIRO laid a wonderfully whimsical ambient veil like a spider web, in which melodies gradually get caught, dripping off like morning dew from leaves. The always very appealing artwork by Salt perfectly captured these associations and „Organic.Aural.Ornaments“ was (and is) for me an absolute ambient masterpiece of collaboration and restraint combined. Four years later, a slick vinyl edition was released on the Spanish label La Esencia as a double LP, which also included two bonus tracks. This was seamlessly followed in 2022 by the continuation at the Loki Foundation, or rather, it logically continued the track numbering scheme starting with the “Ninth Ornament” The artwork on “Organic.Aural.Ornaments II” is noticeably more monochrome and “thorny,” which is already suggested by the choice of label and ultimately reflected in a much darker, more menacing sound. Metallic, sharp-edged, grinding drones lazily rise out of the misty ambient veils, and the drums only push further to the forefront on the “Eleventh Ornament” sounding almost martial. "Organic.Aural.Ornaments II" is therefore an extremely recommendable continuation of the atmospheric dark ambient collaboration, which, although already 4 years old, is timeless and still available. The black vinyl was limited to only 100 copies, and 93 clear vinyl copies were available as a bundle with the CD, which, by the way, this time includes a bonus track called the „Thirteenth Ornament“ and is also sold separately!
