🚨🐕 BORRISOLEIGH – DOG FOULING HOT SPOTS! 💩

Our footpaths, flower beds and playing fields are NOT dog toilets!

Dog fouling continues to be a problem around Borrisoleigh, particularly in:

📍 The Shrubbery bed across from Centra

📍 Footpaths along the Ileigh Road

📍 Our GAA playing fields, as recently highlighted by the GAA.

⚠️ DOG FOULING IS MORE THAN JUST AN EYESORE – IT'S A HEALTH HAZARD!

Dog waste can carry harmful bacteria and parasites, including E. coli, Salmonella, Campylobacter and Toxocara (roundworm). These can cause stomach illnesses and, in rare cases, serious eye damage, particularly in children.

🐾 ALL DOG POO BAG DISPENSERS HAVE BEEN TOPPED UP AGAIN! 🐾

There really is NO EXCUSE for leaving dog litter behind.

Our community works hard to keep Borrisoleigh clean and looking its best. Please show respect for our village, our volunteers, our children and everyone who uses these public spaces.

🐕 BAG IT. BIN IT. KEEP BORRISOLEIGH CLEAN!

A story four decades in the making: Duncannon Beach regains its Blue Flag!

In 1988, Duncannon Beach was among the first beaches in Ireland to receive the Blue Flag. This year, despite wind and rain, the community came together on their beach to celebrate as the Blue Flag was raised in Duncannon again for the first time in 19 years.

To mark the occasion, members of the original committee proudly gathered around the Blue Flag to recreate the photograph taken in 1988. The result is a wonderful image that captures the shared commitment of a community to protecting and celebrating their beach across generations.

📷 Read more about the story behind the photographs and learn how Duncannon regained its flag here: https://www.blueflag.global/stories-news/duncannon-beach-regains-blue-flag-in-2026

And a big thank you to @antaisce for sharing this story with us and for running Blue Flag in Ireland.

🌿🌱 Exciting Progress in the Willow Area! 🌱🌿

We are absolutely delighted to see the next stage of the Willow Area transformation taking place today!

A massive thank you to Trevor Groome for going above and beyond in organising to have the area rotavated and reseeded.

A big thank you also to Dermot for carrying out the work and helping bring this next stage to life! 👏

An absolute powerhouse! Trevor's continued support and dedication to improving our community are hugely appreciated. 👏

🌱 A Little Reminder 🌱

We kindly ask everyone to please keep off the newly reseeded area to give the grass the best possible chance to grow and establish.

Thank you all for your patience and cooperation as we continue to improve this lovely space for everyone to enjoy.

💚 We can't wait to see the Willow Area flourish! 🌳🌿

The climate crisis is happening now, and we cannot afford to look away.

From devastating floods to rising temperatures, communities around the world are already facing its consequences.

Climate change also threatens women’s rights by deepening existing inequalities.

Those who have contributed the least to this crisis are often facing its worst consequences.

On Saturday, 14 November, ActionAid Ireland will be joining the National Climate Demo to demand urgent climate action and climate justice.

Comment CLIMATE below and we’ll send you all the details.
