We’re getting close to opening the second @guardianuganda_ academy in Lira.

As we’ve gotten to know the kids who will be joining the program, we’ve realized that many of them are dealing with skin conditions like ringworm and other health issues that need to be treated before they can safely step on the mats.

We brought in a doctor to see the kids and are covering the cost of the creams, medications and treatment they need to get healthy and cleared to train.

Jiu jitsu can do a lot for these kids, but we’re learning more and more that the support they need goes far beyond the mats.

Some of the kids will need ongoing treatment for the next few months. If you’d like to help us cover their medical care and continue supporting the kids in Lira, please send us a message. We’d love to have you involved.

Our second academy for @guardianuganda in the rural northern region of Lira is getting close.

This build represents a big step forward for us. It’s our first time building in a rural village in Africa. Most of our academies are located in dense cities, but here things are very different.

One of the biggest advantages of this project is that it’s being built to last. There will be no rent, and once our solar and water harvesting systems are complete, ongoing electricity and water costs will be minimal.

There are hundreds of children in the surrounding villages we’ll be able to support. This will also be the first building in the area with bathrooms with running water, flushing toilets and showers, along with electricity and high-speed internet.

Beyond jiu jitsu, this will be a learning center and a place that gives kids in the community a connection to the larger world through education, internet access, and jiu jitsu.

We’re getting close. In the coming months we’ll lay down the mats, open the doors, and begin the first classes. Thank you @thefairfightfoundation and our supporters who have made this work possible. 🇺🇬

We pay gratitude' to the guardian gym & Fairfight Foundation' this is of it's first kind on the African continent; having grow up in other martial arts deciplines from being a player/Coach player to top administrator. We have seen what makes a sport gain proper grounds from the grassroots' generation to generation.

Talent/dedication/hardwork/patience etc is from marginalized communities' it's those poor kids whose parents don't know where they will get the next days meal, at times out of school because of fees & other requirements, sleeping under a linking roof etc; we have lived as testimonies what guardian gym & Fairfight Foundation is doing in Africa and around the world' if it wasn't for such past positive intiatives we couldn't have been now helping others kids from marginalized communities to have a voice through the human art chess game of bjj.

In a safe, clean & moral based environment' Kids are given free bjj classes, a meal, other necessities, Internet, a free communal public library' we're kids have several literacy programs etc. Many generations had lost hope'; without having a Victimhood mindset guardian gym & Fairfight Foundation have set grounds for us to bring the best versions out of ourselves.

Guardian gym & Fairfight Foundation' bjj for positive social change.
