This afternoon, Belfast Gastropub hosted the tremendously successful return of their Tunnel to Towers Foundation Block Party Fundraiser! Elected officials from all across the Island joined in for this great cause, including Town of Brookhaven Supervisor Ed Romaine, who stood by as I presented Bobby TeamDawg with a donation. A special thanks goes out to the Lindenhurst Knights of Columbus Council #794, who once again stepped up to the ambitious task of fundraising for this great event!

We shall never forget New York City Fire Department (FDNY) Firefighter Stephen Siller, who on September 11th, 2001, drove his truck to the entrance of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, but it had already been closed for security purposes. Determined to carry out his duty, he strapped 60 lbs. of gear to his back, and raced on foot through the tunnel to the Twin Towers, where he gave up his life while saving others.

Stephen was assigned to Brooklyn’s Squad 1, and on the morning of September 11th was on his way to play golf with his brothers when he got word of a plane hitting the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Upon hearing the news, Stephen called his wife Sally and asked her to tell his brothers he would catch up with them later before heading to the quarters of Squad 1 to get his gear.

Santa Claus is coming to West Babylon!

Tonight Santa’s Helpers (known to some as the West Babylon Volunteer Fire Department and West Babylon Lions) brought Old Saint Nick along for their annual tree lighting!

It was great to see the return of such a popular and fun celebration. Great work to everyone involved!

Spent some time @suffolkcountylegislature as @nysdec provided an excellent update to their priorities with relation to protecting and enhancing our environment.
Excited to see projects that will benefit my @hempstead_town neighbors for decades to come - cleaner waterways, more efficient infrastructure and the improvement of some of our most cherished treasures.
Spoke to Deputy Commissioner Jim Gennaro, a #BellmoreNY native and fellow @chaminade_hs alum who has great interest in our proposed dredging projects @hempstead_town and is committed to working with us towards their success.
