With summer coming to an end, let’s not forget that September is arguably the best month of the year in NYC and we have plenty of amazing music, food and bev to celebrate. Happy Hour continues from 5pm-8pm Sunday-Wednesdays, with $2 off all cocktails, food, and a $12 glass of wine. As well, we’re still enjoying oysters in the backyard on Wednesdays for $2 a pop or a dozen and a bottle of rosé for $70. Our September music lineup begins with one of our favorite residents @renata_do_valle starting things off on Friday the 4th, followed by @datadata.wav on Saturday who previously joined us for Bliss Point’s residency.  The following week @a2zradio plays Wednesday for their residency, and @timo._.lee and @fugitive_artifact hold down the weekend evenings, plus a special daytime set on Sunday featuring @henryrsolomon.  Many other favorites close out the rest of the month, including @tommy_castro, @niyahwest, @690_woodward_garage, @daniel__rincon, @marjorine_music, @misshapselam, and @jeffmendoza.soulsummit.  Looking forward to spending September with you all! Reservations are now live for the first two weeks of the month and can be made via Resy. (-: Song unreleased by Charolastra titled “CarryMeHome”. Drawing inspiration from early 90s house, specifically Kerri Chandler and early Shelter records, Charolastra brings a new forthcoming release out later this month on Star Creature. See him play at Eavesdrop on Saturday September 12th, 8pm –– 12am. With the summer flying by we have a stacked lineup for August to keep you busy from thinking about the winter blues quite yet… Happy Hour continues from 5pm-7pm Sunday-Wednesdays, with $2 off all cocktails, food, and a $12 glass of wine. Starting off we have Good Find Records playing a set Sunday the 2nd always bringing their A+ selections. Then the following week A––Z Radio brings on Plushie and Flynn, Frantz and Prince Language hold down Friday and Saturday nights, then Phil Spank closes out the weekend.  Other faves Kiitsu, theoretic, Muscle Memory, Neil Kryszak, Marco Weibel, Cosmo, Alien D, and HunnyBunny play throughout the rest of the month. You can’t go wrong coming through for a drink at any point! Song titled “Conditions Of Love” by @musclememorymusic, playing at Eavesdrop on Saturday August 15th. Muscle Memory is the NYC DJ & production duo of Steven Reker and Michael Tapper. Their DJ sets weave together rarities, classics, and new sounds, heavy on early Chicago House, New York Garage, Italo, and post-punk. One of the first songs Muscle Memory wrote together, Conditions Of Love started as a somewhat dubby post-punk experiment, pairing strange Juno 60 synth sounds and delay-laden drum machine beats with ruminations on a decaying relationship in a dying world. Then they thought… “but make it sexy.” So they layered heavy breathing over a pulsating bass groove, with an occasional Gina X style sunburst before dropping into a hazy, dripping, dim-lit dance cave. OH SANKOFA Different places. Different moments. One current. Twenty years ago I retraced my father's footsteps through Ghana, surfing the beaches of Accra and Elmina while exploring questions of memory, identity, representation, and belonging for my thesis, The Representation of the Other : The Other Representation. Some questions never leave us. This week, those currents resurfaced through OH SANKOFA — a powerful Juneteenth performance written, directed, and curated by Carl Hancock Rux at Lincoln Center. Working with Carl Hancock-Rux, Anton Pearson, we developed a visual language inspired by the Sankofa bird: golden origami forms carrying knowledge forward, folding history into future possibility, and creating butterfly effects across generations. More and more, I'm drawn to work that lives at the intersection of culture, story, identity, community, and transformation. Not building brands. Building worlds. Not creating from nothing. Helping people see what's already there. . . - . . - . - - - - -  #OHSankofa #LincolnCenter #Sankofa #CreativeDirection #Worldbuilding

I belive in Generous Collaborations Creating value through connection; bringing people, ideas, and opportunities together; building collaborative ecosystems that amplify impact and open new pathways forward. And I am very proud of this collaboration with my friends @carlhancockrux and @anton_pearson on the identity and communications for OH SANKOFA. The annual Juneteenth celebration at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts returns this year with a powerful multidisciplinary performance written, directed, and curated by Carl Hancock Rux. Through music, choral performance, dance, and storytelling, ‘Oh Sankofa’ pays tribute to the use of African-American folklore as a vital means of survival during the trauma of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. The work features actor/comedian Phyllis Yvonne Stickney; performers Vinson Fraley and Chanon Judson; blues jazz guitarist Marvin Sewell; the Etienne Lashley Choir; Jamel Gaines Creative Outlet Dance Theater; and contemporary art garments and installation by Dianne Smith. Summer has finally arrived! June brings warm nights, deep selections, and a stacked lineup full of friends, residents, and special guests all month long. Happy hour is here, every Sunday - Wednesday, make it count! We start off with nataliepops playing for A––Z Radio’s residency on Tuesday the 2nd, followed by one of our favorites Timo Lee playing a comeback set on Saturday night. The following week Tommy Castro and Love From NYC hold down the Friday and Saturday evening slots, with a feature from 690 Woodward Records on Sunday night. Resident Marco Weibel brings on special guest Ade Kassim for Juneteenth; Verve Records residency night invites Henry Solomon Sunday the 21st; Old friends Sean Sato and Kels close out the month strong. The ERU EP includes five tracks spanning deep hypnotic techno, Latin-tinged percussion, and raw dancefloor energy. Conceptually rooted in Tolkien’s creation mythology, the EP channels the cosmic scope of Eru Ilúvatar and the Music of the Ainur into a body of work built entirely by human hands. See Yurk DJ at Eavesdrop on Friday June 5th.
