A split king splits the mattress. We wanted to split the actual bed.

Traditional split kings are great if you want independent adjustable bases, but if your problem is actually sleeping next to someone, you’re still right beside each other all night.

That was exactly the problem for this couple.

They already had an adjustable bed, but it wasn’t enough. His wife would still end up on his side of the bed during the night. They wanted to share a bedroom and a bed, but also have the option for real separation when it was time to sleep.

That’s where Castaway is different.

Castaway is compatible with most adjustable bed frames, so they were able to keep the independent adjustment they wanted while gaining something a traditional split king couldn’t give them: actual space between their beds.

And that center space has taken on another job too. Their daughter now sleeps between them some nights on the center mattress. ❤️

Together when you want to be. Apart when you need to be. And of course, room for more when they decide to join you.

You shouldn’t have to choose between sharing a bedroom and getting a good night’s sleep.

That’s why we made a king bed that actually splits in half.

We’ve gotten a lot of questions about safety.
