Had the incredible opportunity to edit the HERO11 launch video with @abekislevitz during several late nights along with @thebtown and @josephrenteria. Thanks to everyone on our team who helped bring these assets to life, literally could not have done it without any of you!

For those who care, it was always my dream to work for GoPro. 14 year old me watched the HERO1 launch video in REI like it was an action movie, forever hoping to land a dream job helping make videos and photos like I do now, while also hoping that my parents would get me that camera for Christmas. This launch season was everything I could have imagined as that kid in REI, traveling around the world on production, meeting and filming with incredible athletes and creators, and spending countless hours sifting through and editing 25terabytes worth of video into around 5 minutes of beautiful, inspiring, cinematic, and informative video.

Anyways, just wanted to share some raw behind the scenes photos and videos of some of my favorite moments from the past couple months making these videos come to life. From sharing waves with some of the best athletes in the world, riding a jet ski on Lake Powell for the first time, sleeping on the edge of a desert mesa, and many more unforgettable moments with some of my best friends, I can confidently say, I love my job.

Another launch in the books! It’s been a weird year (how many times have you heard that?) but I’m really proud of our team at GoPro for pulling through, working together remotely, and getting something out the door we’re proud of. From the camera itself to all of the assets our media team was responsible for creating.

In past years, launch meant 3 months of traveling around the world w athletes and creators. This was followed by 2 months of head-down edit bay cranking with 20+ people all sifting through content, working on releases, planning re-shoots, and storyboarding edits. This year was a lot different, but I feel like you wouldn’t really be able to tell on the other end.

In the height of quarantine, realizing we prob wouldn’t get the opportunity to shoot before we had to deliver assets, we quickly started planning our alternative. We had video conferences with over 50 amazing creators and athletes around the world. We storyboarded, planned, and came up with one single shot each of these people could nail from their corner of the world. If we had 50% success, we’d have what we needed to create a compelling, high quality marketing asset.

I just want to take this time to thank everyone around the world that helped make this launch come to life. Having an insanely talented community of artists & athletes that are willing to drive 8+ hours, or practice a mountain bike line all day long to get one take right when the sun is setting is an honor that I will never take for granted. Having all of those calls during worldwide lockdown was such a unique look into daily lives of everyone, in all countries, dealing with the same thing (yeah, it’s not just America). You guys are awesome, #goprofamily.

Next thank you to our incredible team here at GoPro - those still with us, and folks that have moved on. There’s so much passion in everyone that ends up working here, it’s inspiring to be around, even if it’s over slack! You guys all have made GoPro what it is today, and it’s pretty clear there’s a lot of people around the world that are inspired by it.
