POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Today was the start of a new exciting chapter. And what a day it was! Something to look forward to! 🤩 #flowbybieke #antwerpyoga #yogateacher #yogatraining #yogalife

We rarely meet a moment without adding something to it.

A memory.
An expectation.
A fear.
A comparison.
A story about what someone meant.

The mind is always moving, always interpreting. Yoga invites us to notice that movement with a little more awareness.

To notice the difference between what happened and what we think happened.
Between what we know and what we assume.
Between a thought and the truth.

That small space can change a lot.

I wrote more about this in our latest blog article @antwerpyoga. And because I know most of us already have enough competing for our attention, the articles are intentionally short reads. Just a few minutes for a little reflection.

Ik las ergens “The perfect gets in the way of getting things done”.

Some moments are hard to capture.

A week of practice, nourishing food, silence, laughter, meaningful conversations, stillness, the ocean, and simply being together.

Thank you to everyone who trusted the process and made this retreat what it was. It was a privilege to witness you slow down, arrive, and reconnect. And thank you to Nathalie for the soothing classes and Elif for the nourishing colorful food!

Until next time.

I always arrive a little earlier than everyone else. To settle into the space, to breathe with it, and to prepare to welcome you with my full presence.

Just a little message to say: Portugal is ready. And I have a feeling you are too. 🤍

Consistency in practice matters.

But consistency is not the same as ignoring yourself.

Somewhere along the way, many of us started believing that being a “good” yoga practitioner means showing up no matter what. Tired? Practice. Sick? Practice. Overwhelmed? Push through.

I don’t believe that is what yoga is asking of us.

Yoga is, above all, a practice of awareness. It invites us to notice what is happening in the body, the breath, and the mind, and to respond with wisdom rather than habit.

Some days that may mean a strong āsana practice. On other days it may mean adapting, slowing down, simplifying, or choosing another limb of yoga altogether. Meeting yourself honestly is not taking the easy way out, it is practicing awareness.

The goal of āsana has never been impressive postures. The shape itself is not the practice. The practice is the quality of attention we bring to it.

I’ve seen practitioners with the most advanced āsanas who are disconnected from what their bodies are asking for. And I’ve seen people practicing the simplest movements with such presence and steadiness that they embody the heart of yoga.

Yoga is not trying to make us better performers.

It is inviting us towards greater awareness, and through that awareness, a little more freedom.

I wrote a blog article about this because it’s a topic that deserves more than a caption. If this resonates with you, I hope you’ll take a few minutes to read it (link in bio).

Have a good weekend and see you on the mat for your urban exhale…
