Larger than life eyes and brows, the miracle of our pre-surgery world, salons were centers of beauty, flamboyance, and vulgarity, shaping culture across the region. Images of their work set beauty standards, seen in magazines and street signs.

Queer cultures, especially drag artists, revamped these images, blending camp, glamour, and satire to create a new aesthetic that both celebrated and challenged the mainstream. 🔗 Check photo essay - Salon My Kali, link in bio. 👆 And join our broadcast channel here on instagram.
