You went into physiatry to help people get their lives back, not to fight the system every time you know what your patient needs. That gap is called moral injury and it’s real.

At US Physiatry, we’re contracted with the facilities where we see patients, not employed by them. That means your clinical judgment stays yours.

We also take the admin weight off your shoulders. That includes credentialing at every facility and with every payer, plus all your billing and MIPS reporting, so you’re paid fully for the care you give.

Physiatrist-founded. Physiatrist-led. Built for the way you want to practice.

Ask 10 people what a physiatrist does and you’ll get 10 different answers (most of them involving backs) 😅 PM&R is the specialty of function: from leading inpatient rehab teams to EMGs, spasticity care, and guiding patients across the entire continuum of care. Swipe 👉🏼 to see the full picture!

Imagine practicing physiatry with the business side already handled. If inpatient rehab or post-acute care is calling, DM us or visit the link in our bio. Let’s talk about what’s possible.

Hemiparesis is the part everyone sees, but stroke recovery involves a lot more 🧠

From spasticity and shoulder subluxation to swallowing, mood, and skin, physiatrists look at the whole picture. That’s how patients get back to what matters most to them.

Which of these do you think gets overlooked most often? Tell us in the comments 🫶🏼

What actually happens after the acute care discharge?

For many patients, the next stop is an inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF). Here’s what a day can look like: morning rounds with the physiatrist, 3 hours of PT/OT/SLP, 24/7 rehab nursing (including bowel and bladder programs), family training, a weekly team conference, and daily goal-setting.

Every patient’s schedule looks a little different, but the aim is the same: function, independence, and a safe path home.

Save this for a patient or family member who’s wondering what comes next 🩵

You got the fellowship interview.

Now what?

First: don’t try to memorize the “perfect” answer to every possible question.

Prepare—prepare intentionally.

Before interview day, you should be able to clearly communicate:

Why this specialty?
What experiences brought you here?

Why fellowship now?
How does additional training fit into the physician you’re becoming?

Why this program?
What specifically makes the program a fit for your goals—not simply why it’s a great program?

Why you?
What experiences, strengths, perspectives, and goals would you bring to their fellowship?

And know your own application.

Your research, clinical experiences, and leadership. Your accomplishments. Your challenges. If it’s on your application, be prepared to talk about it thoughtfully.

Your CV helped get you to the interview.

The conversation helps them understand you.

Prepare your experiences. Know the points you want to communicate. Practice answering questions out loud.

Leave enough room to have an actual conversation. Let it flow. Pay attention to reading the room and with practice, you could even drive the interview to highlight your story.

Save this before your next fellowship interview—or send it to a resident interviewing this season.
