P2: Traditional African Wedding Reception 🇳🇬🇸🇱

This was a truly blessed experience, for which I’m extremely thankful ❤️ I learned a lot, and I’m ready to continue learning so much more. In many African cultures, marriage is not just a union between 2 individuals, but also a union between families, which is then shared with community. I’m proud of my culture and my people. Thank you to every single person that was a part of this journey, beared witness to this journey, and to all those who wish us well on this journey ❤️

My time at TMU has shaped a lot of who I’ve become today. After completing my first degree during the height of Covid and losing my dad at the same time, I felt very lost and struggled with self-doubt for a long time. But my dad was always my biggest cheerleader when it came to my education and I knew I had what it took to go for my master’s.

Getting my master’s degree in Immigration & Settlement Studies is one of the hardest things I’ve ever taken on, but also one of the most rewarding. This one is for my immigrant parents—my mom who inspires me to be bold and chase my dreams, and my dad who encourages me to work hard and don’t stop. I’m grateful to all the dear people in my life who have supported me along the way ❤️

TMU, it has been a time! I’m ready to close this chapter and move on to the next! ✌🏾
