This Sunday, artists Li Li Ren and Xiao-Wan will perform the next iteration of Machine Dreaming, in the atrium of Queensrollahouse at 8pm.

Developed through the artists’ ongoing dialogue, and this time in collaboration with Ao Lei, Machine Dreaming is an audiovisual performance in which traditional instruments are played responsively to Ren’s digital video works. Using cymbals, an analogue drum machine and a semi-hollow body guitar, the duo create a ceremonial exchange between image and sound, unfolding through moments of attack, suspension and decay.

Join us on Sunday evening for the live performance, alongside the North West London Last Dance & Cookout — a closing celebration for London Gallery Weekend and bringing together exhibitions, performances, music and food across Queensrollahouse.

The evening is presented by Harlesden High Street, Studio/Chapple, Refusés & Danielle Mezh, Feral Institute, FreddieFoulkes Gallery, IMPORT EXPORT and Season 4 Episode 6.

Sunday 07 June
Queensrollahouse, NW10 7LU
Doors from 3pm
Performance at 8pm

MOUNTAINS AND SEAS – SONG OF TODAY 山海 · 今日之歌

From ancient myth to laser light.
From ink and pattern to electric guitar.
From forest ritual to black-box theatre.

Inspired by the Classic of Mountains and Seas (山海经), this project brings together performance, music, visual art, AI animation, exhibition, publication, workshops, and film — a living ecosystem of collaboration.

Across the Surrey Hills, Omnibus Theatre, studios, and community spaces, we built a world where past and future meet, where myth breathes through contemporary bodies and sound.

This has never been just a performance.

It is a collective act of imagining.

A ritual.
A protest.
A dream.

A space where ancient creatures walk through contemporary fire.

Deep gratitude to every artist, musician, designer, filmmaker, sound engineer, stage manager, funder, workshop participant, and audience member who stepped into this world with us.

Thank you @jamiebakerphotography for documenting this body of work so beautifully.

And thank you @mikeskelton_ for filming our live show and capturing its energy with such care.

The mountains are still living.
The seas are still singing.

Thank you for sharing this journey with me. 🫶🏼

Mountains and Seas is an immersive installation inspired by classical Chinese Taihu stones. 3D-printed rockery-like columns and mirrored acrylic panels form a reflective spatial system. Laser beams cut through mist, turning light into a fluid material. Reflections multiply endlessly, forming a luminous forest where landscape, structure, and perception dissolve into a shifting field.

Materials: PETG, Mirrored Acrylic
Dimensions: L18cm * W18cm * H130cm (Single column)

Inspired by classical Chinese Taihu stones, this installation employs 3D printing technology to create rockery-like columns. Combined with mirrored acrylic panels, they generate a dynamic, highly reflective immersive space.

Lasers cut through mist, turning the environment into a flowing sea of light. Reflections multiply endlessly between mirrors, growing into a luminous forest. Translucent projection screens layer with these elements to conjure a world - Mountains and Seas.

Materials: PETG, Mirrored Acrylic
Dimensions: L18cm * W18cm * H120cm (Single column)

Documentation from my first solo performance in January this year as part of Optical Intermediate.

An exhibition and performance night with an absolutely mental set and curation by @chenachenc and @aorbital . It felt very special to be part of it.

The white sculpture in the background is a piece from @chenachenc which was later activated in a performance by @xiao_wan and Chen.

「Optical Intermediate」 explores the interplay between perception, technology, and artistic mediation. The exhibition is hosted at the historic Deptford Town Hall, once a military tribunal during World War I for conscientious objectors.

The exhibition space is accompanied by a unique monitoring room, situated adjacent to the gallery. Equipped with a network of cameras capturing live footage from the exhibition, this room reconfigures these recordings into dynamic visual compositions. Visitors can step into this space to experience an alternative lens on the exhibition, navigating fragmented and mediated perspectives in real time.

Thanks to all the participating artists and everyone who has helped us along the way.
