I went from looking like the head on your left 1 1/2 yrs ago all due to an artery in my brain that blew!
In Nov of 22 I bought my dream Jeep!
My thought has always been “There aint Nuth’n prettier than a black vehicle when it’s clean!” So black on black it was. I wanted to drive it on our gorgeous Pacific Ocean beach!
It was my dream!
I had barely broken it in when Feb 13th of 2023 came crashing.
After 3 emergency brain procedures, a month in ICU, intubated, on a respirator,in a comma & tubes running out everywhere, my chances of ever driving again weren’t looking very good.
There’s something that takes place in your psyche when a dream is crushed.
It brings you down to earth real fast like.
Realizing what you longed for doesn’t hold much in comparison to the goal to simply survive. It makes a new person of you. Pulls out that single entity of desperation to grab for one next breath. Striving to tell them you’re in here while medical caretakers & lovedones talk about you in your presence “No she can’t hear you, She can’t hear us she’s so deeply sedated.” When in reality their words of medical jargon fade in & out & you hear them tell your daughter to “Give your mom last words as you listen to each finite word she says in warmth of breath alongside your cheek.
You’re in this dark tunnel of fade embroiled in a wresting match of survival & succumb.
Fast forward to last weekend we’re in Astoria for a week of coffee business & adventure.
I told Jeff I wanted to take my Jeep out on the beach. I had to! I needed to! It was a crossing over of such. A ‘get to the other side’. A completion of a chapter. A fulfillment of a dream. Saturday morning we drove to Longview WA looking for a motor vehicle beach entrance. We found one. I switched places with Jeff & got settled in behind the wheel.
“I’m do’n this! I’ve been waiting for this!”
I began the drive feeling determination & elation! I was driving! Me!!!
I was there on the beach in my black Jeep driving!
I couldn’t hold it in! I had to bust out a war hoop! I Yelped & YEE Haw’d! Whoo Hoo! Yessss! This was huge! This was a moment of conquer! This was my moment in time! This was winning! This was living!
This was life!
