A week late, but some weekends are worth revisiting. 🏁

Another trip to Hallett Motor Racing Circuit for APEX Lap Attack in the books!

From the late nights getting the BRZ ready, to loading up the truck, hitting the road, and spending another weekend doing what I love. It’s weekends like these that remind me why I fell in love with motorsports in the first place.

Fast cars, good people, the dogs, and memories that go way beyond lap times. I always feel like I leave Hallet an even better driver!

Until the next one! OCTANE20 for 20% off your bucked up order!

Special shoutout to Bill LeSueur from this year’s Apex Fest!

Bill took home 2nd place on Sunday in AE4 in the Enduro, completing the entire 3-hour and 20- minute race solo with only two pit stops!

What an honor and privilege it was to watch, support, and witness such an incredible drive. Congratulation’s, Bill. 🍾🏁

The team took an opportunity to have our drivers test out the car in a real w2w race. There were a lot of unknowns. The car was previously a PCA sprint car, set up for GTB1. And one of our drivers had not even see the car in person before the race weekend.

I did a lot of reliability mods, removed a tune(more on that), traded the slicks for 200tw, the car was essentially the same as the day I bought it.

We faced some challenges, see slides 4-5. The seals on the BBS wheels were leaking and that’s from the tires running on low pressure, could have been real bad. Also, a bolt on our air jack mount sheared off and put a nice little whole in our floor. Not sure how much damage to the actual jack. The fix for that will likely be down the line as more important costly changes need to take priority.

Now to recap the race. The first day we all got to drive our full stint. The car was being a bit wonky and we assume it is likely due to the car going into limp mode with all the modules disconnected. The car would not shift as expected and who knows what else could be impacted. I will likely put the tune back on and test again. From there we need to detune the car since we are a bit over on the weight to power ratio for the WRL class.

Second day was a different story.. we left the main power on the car over night and drained the battery. I accidentally put the battery charger on backwards and fried something. The car would not start. We diag and realized the fuel pump was not priming. I took a look at the fuse and put a multimeter to it and it seemed good. Decided just to call it, load up and head home.

Fortunately the next morning as I was unloading and getting the new battery in, I decided to take a look at all connections again and see if I could find the problem. Took a close look at the fuse and it had popped. So got a new fuse in and the car is up and running. 🎉.

All in all, with that bullet dodged, I’ll call it a decent weekend. Our first piece of hardware (once UPS gets their act together)! Got some work to do to fine tune but we will be ready for COTA.

Special thanks to @apexhpde for putting on the event. Come race with us.
