Haputale Mist

Nestled in the midst of Haputale’s misty mountains, the very first thought that came to us when we saw this site was simple: we should never disturb the view in front of this villa.

We wanted the experience of staying here to be about immersing yourself in the landscape, watching the mountains transform from cloudy to clear, rainy to sunny, throughout the day. A place where you can witness both sunrise and sunset, while listening to the ever-changing chorus of birds.

So, when the amazing architect behind this beautiful vision, @rapaarchitects approached us for the furniture manufacturing, and @villacavo_haputale invited us to work on the interiors, we understood the assignment.

Comfort. A sense of home. Coziness. Softness to the eye. Warmth. And, most importantly, space to breathe.

Every element was carefully chosen to complement rather than compete with the surroundings.

Brick red interior walls, teak furniture, soft beanbags, handmade clay pots, and handloom linens were brought together to reflect the warmth, culture, and natural beauty of this mountain retreat.

Nothing too loud. Nothing too crowded.

Just a quiet, warm interior that allows the mountains to remain the hero.

And once every piece came together, Ganidu Balasuriya's beautiful eye behind the camera captured the essence of the space exactly as we hoped, a home that feels like it belongs to the mountains.

My biggest show in Colombo was a chaotic, soul filling blur - there was an added matinee show and an in convo cocktail event, so much fam came, I made a bunch of new friends, hid in bathrooms when I got overwhelmed, Charlie found a cat in the foyer and despite last year's rabies shots from a cat bite, he instantly picked up this cat which is why men die earlier than women

All of this grew from a 50 seater show in 2023 which feels surreal, I'm still processing all the love - thank you to everyone who came and the many who helped out ❤️❤️

Magical days in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 We have friends here now! 🥹

we met Aparna & Eto while they were visiting Goa at the Serendipity Art Festival in 2023 and while they fell in love with Goan culture and designs we fell in love with what they did back home, these quirky but sustainably designed bean bags from @apihappi that we couldn't resist making a part of our 1st chapter at The Picnic Flea 🌼

The ergonomic shape is comfy enough for an adult to take a nap but also upright and sturdy enough for someone to sit up and eat soup( or Ros omelet)

Each beanbag comes with the cotton lined, handloom cotton outer cover and a waterproof inner cover to hold the stuffing. This makes it so easy to remove the handloom cover and pop it in the washing machine whenever necessary.

The Handloomed cotton fabric from Sri Lanka, gives the soft comfort of 100% cotton while being very durable....

Unfortunately, we couldn't market this earlier and give them a more prominent space as we only received the shipment on the day of the event, but you can find a few of these and order more from the mog Concept store in Utorda, or simply Dm them or us!
