Have you ever noticed this beautiful thing at post-office? and wondered what it was? Simultaneously a piece of art and a fully fledged server! @apossible’s first Applied Experiment asks: Can the internet's infrastructure bring us back together? Artist @lukasengelhardt answers with a server that's only accessible when users are together in the same space. The permanent installation titled: “A Server Is a Mountain That Takes a Village". When two or more of our members are together in the space the server becomes accessible and our connected digital screen comes to life Explore the full project at apossible.com All photos by @tommysmits.tommysmits

Does AI fulfill us, or do we fulfill AI? 💭 Join us and @apossible 🤝 at @grayareaorg on Sunday, January 19 for “Fulfilling AI” a conversation with Misha Sra (Professor and Director of the Human-AI Integration Lab at the University of California, Santa Barbara) and Eugenia Kuyda (CEO and founder of Replika), moderated by Michael Connor (Executive Director of Rhizome). For many critics, humans and AI are often figured as rivals: new AI tools encroach on human capabilities, human jobs, humans’ sense of self. This event acknowledges these criticisms, while proposing that it remains possible to create tools and systems that foster more collaborative and fulfilling human-AI relationships.  Meanwhile, 3D artist @itsmejjjae who provided the artwork for this event’s flyer, shares her perspective on working with AI: “AI technology, while improving efficiency, feels like it significantly alters the way I think, especially in terms of intuitive reasoning. By relying on data-driven algorithms, AI shapes my thinking to follow predictable, structured patterns, often sidelining my natural instincts and creative insights. Rather than encouraging innovative ideas, it tends to push me toward solutions that align with past trends, reinforcing existing biases and limiting the scope of exploration. Over time, this reliance on AI not only erodes my ability to think intuitively but also molds my thought processes to fit within certain boundaries. As AI continues to shape decision-making, it gradually limits the diversity of thought, narrowing my approach to problem-solving and reducing the flexibility of human creativity.     It felt like I knew how delicious a particular brand of tomato ketchup was, but I might forget how to make tomato ketchup itself.” 🍅
