NIGHT SERVICE 26’ 🌗  Some highlights from the first 12HRS from 9PM-9AM

From house through to techno a huge thanks to all the artists who played Night 1 and powered through the morning shift 🌙 
Thank you to everyone that came through for night one, donated and streamed— so far we’ve raised $8,900 for @leukaemia_foundation @dylanalcottfoundation @empowerautismqld .

Almost triple last year’s total 📈 and 10x the amount we raised in our first year.

The local lineup this year was insane and feeling very grateful to see the Brisbane DJ scene come together for a good cause.

Special mention to @pawnandco_brisbane, our event sponsors and everyone that volunteered, which made the event possible 💙

Raffles and donation links are open until Wednesday 5pm. We’ll also be dropping some info about Night Service T-shirts soon, with all profits all proceeds also going to the three charities ⭐️

Apparatus Fixate Recap
Thought I’d share some of the thinking behind why @joshismyfirstname and I designed the experience the way we did.
For this show, we wanted the production to feel intentional and considered, so we restricted lighting to orange only - a nod to Tokyo’s @mitsuki_tokyo . Orange was chosen due to its association with warmth and the nostalgia of suburban sodium streetlights.
To achieve a high contrast orange, we had to source fixtures with a dedicated amber channel, rather than the more common RGB. We also covered all light sources in the venue with orange gels; the bathroom lights, spot lights, exit signs. The goal was a surreal feeling where only orange existed.

Fixate marked the return of the tea room; a secondary space within the venue that was communal, comfortable and social.
With a long low table in the centre of the space, @noguitarsallowed and @delfi__fidel served free teas all night.
We wanted the space to feel as cozy as possible, while being functional. Darkness removed the anxiety of being perceived, and let us relax within the space.
The only light in the room was a single overhead narrow spot light, illuminating the table while keeping its perimeter dark and comfortable. To prevent this light from illuminating those around the table, two MDF sheets were hung above, shading the cushions while keeping the table lit.
We also hung a large mesh canopy across the room. It’s form draped above the table, providing a cozy low ceiling, while it’s curvature meant access around the perimeter was easy to navigate.

The dance floor was as dark as possible. We installed a false roof using builders plastic across scaffolding spans - blocking any street light from bleeding in from higher windows. Strips of amber light bars provided movement through the haze without being too distracting or bright.

To create the best sound fidelity, we rigged sound panels along the walls, reducing phasing and inconsistencies caused by sound reflecting and interfering with itself.

Still buzzing from this past weekend, where @erikluebs headlined our show ‘Fixate’ for @apparatus.fm 🧡 @jaxson.samuels and i had been working on this one for a little while and it turned out so much better than we could have imagined. Night service is a live music event to raise funds for the @leukaemia_foundation @dylanalcottfoundation & @empowerautismqld

@vogelmusicau will be playing for a total of 24 hrs from July 10 - 11 alongside some of SE QLD’s best DJs/Artists hosted @pawnandco_brisbane

Tickets available via Megatix with additional donations available through every ticket purchase - links available through bio with all proceeds to be split evenly with the three charities.

Raffles will also be running on the day with prizes to be announced soon from some amazing sponsors 🔋

Thought I’d jump on here and talk a bit about my upcoming EP. It’s pretty hard to get vulnerable about these sorts of things, but I’ve been wanting to push myself out of my comfort zone more recently. I hope my message can provide some insight to people. Flexion releases 4th of May
