Congratulation Dr. Isabel Aristizabal Ramirez! U.S. and Columbian families joined forces to celebrate in Lexington, Kentucky. It was such a beautiful weekend filled with delicious food, fun conversation and of course, damn good bourbon 😝. She and Alex will complete their post docs in Chicago. Needless to say, the parents will not complain about the travel convenience gained by this decision!

This is the first time in my entire career that I’ve had the whole week off for Thanksgiving break. The extra days to prepare for guests and a large gathering were a game changer. These turkeys were so much fun. At some point, I found myself perfectly content to just sit back and watch it all. So much going on with these young lives. Big changes, exciting news, stressful situations, family joys, family drama. A fun safe space for all of it ❤️

We’re enjoying the last year of Kentucky before Alex and Isa take post-doc positions in Chicago in 2026. Could not have asked for better weather for eating outside at Mirror Twin Brewery, Pearls Pizza, DV8, and Manchester coffee. A 5 mile hike through the Raven Run Nature Conservancy helped to work off those carbs 🤪

The University of Kentucky Department of Physiology has a fun tradition after the doctoral defense. You pop open a bottle of champagne then sign your name next to the dent on the ceiling tile 😂. Congrats Dr. Alex Keeble ❤️
