*Hold Space Core Sample* _Sunday, 4 October 2026, 4 PM - Late_ _Backsteinboot — entrance by donation_ For Hold Space Core Sample, Backsteinboot’s club space, furniture and lighting are repurposed to host an exhibition conceived by the people who usually make its club nights possible. Moving out of their customary roles behind the bar, at the cloakroom, on the floor or backstage, members of the team reveal other facets of their artistic practices. Distributed throughout the club, the works intersect, respond to one another and occasionally emerge from collaboration. Texts, images, films, drawings, sound works, installations and performances compose a movement through the space: something like a dance. The exhibition offers a different way of encountering the people behind Backsteinboot and the relationships that sustain it: an occasion to bring what usually remains backstage into view, while opening new connections within the team and with the public. *Line-up & timetable* _From 4 PM — Exhibition_ • AMB — sound and text installation • Augmented Flesh — Cybertrance / multimedia installation • Bin Cir — Transgaia / sound sculpture • Cristiano Monga — drawings • Hostnazer — Let Me Rise / sound work • Inga Ivanova — notebooks, photographs and drawings • Marcel Mattias — CORE / typewritten text • Melizards — two squirrels with bunny ears looking at each other / paintings • Samin Son — We All Draw / performed poetry _4-6 PM_ Zingualistic with Edwin Isn’t & Samin Son — TARTINES TROOPERS / short film screening on loop _6-7 PM_ Inga Ivanova — live performance _7-8 PM_ Appendix.files / Amos Turner — listening session _From 8 PM_ Damir — extended live DJ set

This post is running a few days late (apologies for that), but the new releases it highlights are just as good now as they were last week. Need to freshen up your listening diet? Check out First Floor online or just follow the link in bio. You can listen to all these records and also read why we like them so much.

co:clear / Second End Records/ INDEX: Records Mixtape There are ratings that resemble a failed awakening. Dreamscape arises from there - from an attempt to retain the threshold state between wakefulness and sleep, that margin in which the soundscape ceases to be a backdrop and becomes a place. The mix draws on the gestures of Index, co:clear and appendix: three practices that share an ethic of slow listening, minimal interference, care for sound material as a living substance rather than as a product. Not a selection, but a broadcast - an invitation to get lost without pretending to find your way back. Dreamscape is a suspended crossing — a soundscape that makes no promise of waking. Built around the sonic gestures of Index, co:clear and appendix, the mix moves through thresholds: ambient dissolving into dub-techno, silences opening like rooms, resonances that ask not to be understood, only passed through. Not a linear story, but a drift — the same hysteresis that lingers on the body after a dream ends and it hasn't yet caught up. https://on.soundcloud.com/lTcrlptcGgQB0thRkY

Irradiated Artist: Reinartz Label: appendix.files Dub techno built for a mind that refuses to stay still. On Irradiated, Kurt Reinartz Salgado sets dub chords and reverberant bass against elastic 4/4 rhythms, fractured breaks, and finely recorded noise. The tempo and density keep changing, moving between spacious ambient passages and more forceful club structures without settling into either. Melodic fragments surface briefly, then recede beneath percussion and sustained tones. Precise sound design gives every crack, echo, and low-frequency movement a clear place in the mix.

New Mindcast || Mindcast.70 || Edward J – Mindcast Mixtape 07/2026 For our July edition, we welcome The Hague-based sound designer and producer Edward J (formerly Generate) to our series. He is known for exploring the space between abstract textures and emotional melodies and is also regarded as one of the key figures in the @indexmusic_ collective and the ‘Sonic Waves’ event series in The Hague. His diverse background—ranging from IDM and intricate jungle rhythms on @terra_atomika to collaborative works on @antilounge —shapes this curated mix, which seamlessly blends ambient, electro, IDM, and bass music. Speaking about the intention behind this selection, Edward says: “So much incredible music stays hidden, even though it’s easily on the same level as what’s much more known. I added a lot of tracks from friends and people close to me who make amazing work. Making this mix helped me slow things down and find some clarity in the chaos and steady my mind a bit.” Selected and mixed by @edward.j__ Artwork by @hagar_faibish_art
