MONO8 is delighted to present "Every Time the Needle Fits", a two-person exhibition featuring artist-curator CON CABRERA and artist KAT MEDINA. The show presents a collection of used representations that are (re)imagined, (re)drawn, and (re)captured to resuscitate meaning. The use of thread in the collection signifies a process of looking through an object. It opens on July 6, at 4 PM.

KAT MEDINA (b. 1984) makes paintings and installations that are informed by the sentience of the hand and negotiations of looking. She explores the performative aspects of objects through the development of its interaction in contemporary society. She graduated from Far Eastern University and is currently pursuing a post graduate diploma in Archaeology at the University of the Philippines. Medina was an artist-in-residence at the Programa de Residencias Matadero Madrid (AECID) (2017).

CON CABRERA is a visual artist and independent curator. She embeds her current projects into the navigation of her state as a woman enclosed by the politics of housework, parenting, the private space, and ideology while gradually expanding to cultural work in the larger society. In her recent works, she mindfully bonds her art production and conceptualization to writings on art, culture and history.

"Every Time the Needle Fits" runs until July 29.

#tvnfoodsharing week 23/Month 6 updates: Food packs shared: 8334 ❤️ alternating volunteer chefs/cooks: 17 to date. Alternating volunteer bikers: 21 or more actually ❤️
.
Yes, as we enter our 6th month of sharing food to the urban poor- the street dwellers, the poor in the communities, the stranded workers and jeepney drivers and their families in Quezon City, Manila, Mandaluyong and Marikina- we are happy to share that our #socialsolidarity and our movement of care and compassion have reached out this far ❤️
.
Gratitude to all our donors, enablers of this movement for without your open hearts, we wouldn’t have gone this far. However, sadly, we need to keep going- 7 months into the pandemic, the poor and the working class’ situation is nowhere near better. In fact, in many communities, it is even worse now.
.
Salute to our bikers and cooks, our #foodheroes in this time of utmost hunger and injustice, under a regime so rotten to the core.
.
Send us a DM if you wish to donate rice, raw vegetables or cash or volunteer with us. Your help is much appreciated 🙏🏻

This is my 2020 #hobonichi journal. I chose the undated one because I know I’ll just put the highlights of the month or if something special happens (I can’t do it everyday, I already tried). Sharing some of the special moments at the start of the year. I stopped journalling for two months because of the pandemic and very recently started again when I joined a meditation group. Praying that we’d have good things to write in all our journals soon 🙏🏽
