SKORPIO Premieres: Golden Times — Aera

Available now on the Skorpio SoundCloud.
Official release Friday, July 24th on all platforms via @appliedmagicrecords_

Applied Magic returns this Friday with a new chapter.

Marking the relaunch of his imprint Applied Magic, @aeragram introduces Golden Times, a melodic and emotionally driven production that signals a fresh identity for the label. Accompanied by a renewed visual direction and an evolving sonic vision, the release sets the tone for a new era of Applied Magic.

For this premiere, we focus on Golden Times, a track that perfectly reflects Aera's distinctive approach to melody and immersive arrangements. Renowned for crafting emotionally resonant electronic music, Aera continues to blur the line between introspective listening and dancefloor functionality, delivering a production that feels both timeless and forward-looking.

Adding another layer to the project, Golden Times was created using Aera's own Magic For Live MIDI Magic Bundle for Ableton Live, a collection of Max For Live devices designed to encourage creativity and intuitive music-making. The bundle includes MagicChord, Pendel, and Octaver, tools developed by Aera himself after months of refining, testing, and using them throughout his own creative process, further reinforcing the philosophy behind Applied Magic as a space where innovation and artistic freedom go hand in hand.

Aera - Golden Times out on Friday! 🏅

A month ago I posted some unreleased IDs and asked you which one I should release first - the response has been incredible and it seems like Golden Times was your favourite, so it's the first one coming out! But no worries I haven't forgotten about the other tunes as well. Applied Magic is officially back! 🗣️✨

Which one should I release first? Let me know in the comments!

🗣️💗✨

Now - we have to talk about Applied Magic.

Starting the label was one of those happy accidents.

In the beginnings of Covid I uploaded my track "Ode To An Empty Dancefloor" to Bandcamp as a free download. Many people wanted to stream it so I talked to Muting The Noise to figure something out. Now I suddenly had a label!

At first, I wanted to use it mainly as a platform to release my own music, but I was sent so many great demos that I just couldn't keep them all for myself. And since I love art and design I also decided that each release should be designed by a different visual artist.

I'm super proud of every record we did and it helped kick-start the careers of some of my favorite artists - but I didn't really put out a lot of my own music. And to be honest it turned out to be so much work that I just couldn't keep up anymore, and I felt the energy I put in and what I got out of it was not properly balanced.

So I decided to stop for a while and reconsider my options. And now I'm coming back, but with a slightly different concept...simpler artworks, single tracks, faster pace. Still Applied Magic.

I will also focus more on my own music again, but I'm always happy for new demos and unreleased music. I try to listen to everything!

Hope you enjoy the new direction. Thank you for your support.

this has been an insane year as I look back into the musical output, something an younger me (who was struggling to put a kick and bass together) could never imagine

music has kept me sane through this roller-coaster of life and I’m so excited and pumped for what comes through the studio next

thanks to everyone who played, streamed and supported my music through the year and to all the labels who gave these the right home 🤍

Turning our attention to our next release 👀👀👀👀. Someone we’ve had our eye on for a while now, hailing from India, Ayan has already found his music gracing some of the coolest labels around including @renaissance.dj @appliedmagicrecords_ & @marginalia.label His take on gritty, bouncy house music that takes inspiration from a variety of genres caught our attention. Not only a producer and DJ, Ayan runs his own series of events in Hyderabad.
We were thrilled when he agreed to remix @lucaabayan ‘Reset’ and the result an absolute beauty 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Out on Friday 14th November - link in bio ❤️
