My first experience with Kaiseki dining @kyotokakyo : It truly was a love letter to Kyoto with seasonal Japanese ingredients displayed as art on the plate. 12 courses, six drink pairings, each one so intentionally crafted.

What I loved is that these are not just trendy ingredients made to suit the tastes of tourists. These are truly the flavors of Japan; the sea, the earth, the umami. And the wine and sake pairings were some of the best I’ve had.

If you are not afraid of foreign flavors and textures and you want to truly experience a culture through its cuisine, I highly recommend trying Kaiseki if given the opportunity. It’s truly a unique experience.

I had the surprise of my life at dinner with @srqsocialclub tonight @lamuccaballerina ✨ A little known fact about me is that my favorite salad in this entire universe is a Caesar Salad topped with fried Calamari. 🥗🦑 I used to get them when I lived in DC 11 years ago. As our server read off the specials tonight, all I heard were the words “Caesar Salad” and I immediately said yes bc I needed some obligatory green to offset the obscene amounts of pasta I was going to put in my body. To my surprise, my Caesar came out with fried Calamari and I can’t even describe the joy I felt at being serendipitously reunited with my favorite salad after 11+ years. 🤩 And it was INCREDIBLE! It’s crazy bc all the homemade pasta I had was also amazing but I cannot stop thinking about that salad. If you’ve never tried it, you must!
1. Calamari Caesar (10/10)
2. Focaccia
3. Lobster à la vodka (8.5/10)
4. Paccheri Carbonara (8.5/10)

January, you’ve been a lot—but in the best way.

+ 1 wedding celebration of @brookedsghall and @logans_hall, featuring many rehearsals, me DJing/MCing/singing with friends, a few technical difficulties, and tons of dancing on the floor.

+ 7 birthday celebrations (not kidding): Jeff turning 25, Mimi turning 80, Mom hitting the big 6-0 (after 2 months of party planning!), celebrating friends, and a disco dance party for my sis in law @madison_elaineee to top it off.

+ Job interviews turning into new opportunities.

+ finally being able to watch the season 2 of Severance after two years of waiting and having friends breaking cast their predictions.

+ Painting and wheel throwing with @beccawhitest whilst learning that frozen berries are a great substitute for ice cubes.

+ Kennedy and Jay finally telling the world about baby #2 so I can post pics of @thekennedygrace’s baby bump. (Peep my reaction to finding out about the news back in November in the last video)

Exhausted in the best way—thank you, January! (But I think I’m done with birthdays for a while.)

For a special night, nothing can beat the food and service @antoinesrestaurantsarasota 🤍 Every time I come back it is like coming to eat and visit with friends. The feeling is both generous and intimate. I never question Olivier’s recommendations and I am never disappointed. Tonight I tried the Special: Chilean Sea Bass w/ Smoked Salmon in a puff pastry (8/10) and,of course, I had to get my favorite, the Profiteroles (9/10). Not pictured was the Filet Mignon en croute (my usual favorite) and both my companions loved it, as I knew they would. If you are looking for somewhere special to show your loved one how much you care, book your reservation at Antoine’s!
