Meet the Executive: April Hennig, President of Moda Operandi | Wilton In our most powerful series to date, we sit down with the remarkable executives who call Connecticut home. We launched Meet the Executive for high-impact moments and, as ex New Yorkers ourselves, to spotlight the extraordinary talent choosing life here. Up next: April Hennig, and a masterclass in fashion. @aprilhennig is President of @modaoperandi, the luxury platform known for discovering exceptional design talent and giving clients access to fashion’s most exciting collections from around the world. She began her career in Buying at Saks Fifth Avenue before joining Bergdorf Goodman as a Vice President. From there she crossed to the designer side as President of Jonathan Simkhai. Through every chapter, from buying and merchandising to brand building and executive leadership, one thread holds: a passion for discovering and championing emerging talent. In 2020, April co-founded RAISEfashion, a nonprofit supporting BIPOC talent in fashion through mentorship, resources and access to a network of industry leaders. For her, nurturing the next generation is both a responsibility and one of the great rewards of the work. Today at Moda Operandi, she is shaping the company’s next chapter, uniting discovery, exceptional product and deeply personal service on a platform built for established and emerging designers alike. In 2021, April and her family traded Los Angeles for Wilton, where she lives with her husband, Angelo, and their children, Lulu, 9, and Theo, 7. They fell fast for the town’s sense of community, its natural beauty and the grounded family life it allows. For April, it is the best of both worlds: a close-knit place to raise her kids, with New York and the global fashion world never far away.
